Had a good afternoon at Offerton. Shame for the club they couldn’t cash in by selling beer to the general public but half my family are members so I was fine. I was genuinely shocked to see MSH playing in socks. Surely an injury risk right there. Challinor clubbed a couple of boundaries before getting bowled. The rest of them looked like they’d not held a bat much. Think we had some decent cricketers once in the past who played for us. Possibly less time now for them to play another sport in the summer and then its the possible injuries you can pick up which the club will frown on. Andy Preece Chris Marples- about there last to play both sports professionally at the same time in his career John Hardiker played Lancs junior teams with Andrew Flintoff

IMO that's stretching the truth somewhat. My sister lives in Poynton. It is a nice place but driving down Park Lane you have to dodge the pedestrians who just step out in front of you. It might be a "shared space" but you wouldn't know that unless you live there. How there's not been a major bump on the double roundabout considering quite a few motorists seem to have non functioning indicators. The Acoustic Lounge is nice for a cup of coffee/tea, never been in the evening. For me there's still too many cars going through the village despite the bypass.

Its my ‘go to’ for a Friday night out with friends. The Vine Hop, Flute and Firkin and the Cask make a nice little trio.

The shared space works because no one is sure how to proceed so everyone goes more carefully. When it was initially created I was certainly not a fan of it but having driven over/through it many times since it seems to do its job.

I walk, drive and cycle through it regularly. It works really well and a lot better than what was there previously. I've rarely found pedestrians stepping out without checking, but as a driver you should be giving way to them anyway. That's part of the point. With my cyclist head on, I think they're least well served by it but it's still better than what was there. What needs to happen next is slowing down London Road North, putting in some decent cycle infra between Poynton and Fiveways and then resurface the shared space area, which is really starting to break up.

I worked in Poynton for 20 years & it was far better & safer when they had traffic lights where the double roundabout is. Those bloody things were a cause of daily stress to & from work. How there's not been a major accident there is a miracle. Lost count of the times I've witnessed near misses & incidents of road rage caused by people not giving way according to the simple laws of using a roundabout. Done zero to improve traffic flow neither. Even when I was going in on a 2-10 shift the traffic would often be backed up all the way down the 'mad mile' all the way to Brookside garden centre. There's a bus stop just off the roundabouts heading in the Macc direction (opposite the church), some bright spark put a mini central reservation section alongside the bus stop. Quite often the bus would stop at the bus stop & just sit there for 10 minutes, nobody could get round the bus due to the central reservation section, traffic would then back up with cars stuck on the roundabouts going in all direction, it was chaos. could've easily been resolved by making the bus stop more of a bay so the bus could pull off the road rather than causing an obstruction. Poynton is only 5 miles from where I live in Offerton but that's a daily journey I certainly don't miss!

I think one area where improvement could be made though is in relation to those with visual impairments. I have a sister in law with a guide dog and crossing roads is difficult enough in standard layouts.

It's miles better. Car drivers losing their shit with each other because they can't drive properly is the drivers' fault, not the fault of a road system that is perfectly straightforward to navigate. Just drive to the road situation, which is designed to slow you down and to make life better for non-motorists, which is what is needed - our road system is horribly skewed to put the most vulnerable users in the most danger. And as a cyclist going through it several times a week, I think I've had two close calls since it went in, both the driver's fault. They weren't *that* close though, because everyone was travelling at slow speed. Unlike when I was taken out by a driver who wrote my bike off at a different roundabout and would have written me off if I hadn't spotted he was going to make a mistake before he did.

Unlike when I was taken out by a driver who wrote my bike off at a different roundabout and would have written me off if I hadn't spotted he was going to make a mistake before he did. Oh I totally agree it's down to the stupidity of drivers, people just flying out & not even looking when it wasn't their right of way was a regular occurrence. Like I said, I don't miss that journey one bit & the bus stop situation is just plain ridiculous. No problems when starting a shift at 6 a.m. or coming home at 6 a.m. but I dreaded starting at 2pm or finishing at 6pm, often went all round the houses just to avoid the roundabouts. Edit:- In your relation to cyclists (Not just related to Poynton in particular) I've been both a motorist & a cyclist & have experienced loads of knobhead drivers with a dangerous disrespect for cyclists but have also encountered some absolute clown cyclists too. Coming home from Poynton during the pandemic one afternoon I went down Chester rd. I'd passed a cyclist earlier, slowing down & respectfully giving him a wide berth as I passed him. At the crossroads with Jacksons lane there were temporary traffic lights, I was well ahead of the cyclist at this point & the lights were on red so I was stationary along with a couple of other cars in front of me. I see the cyclist catch up & approach in my rear mirror whilst I'm stationary at the lights, Due to the nature of the road works I was tucked in quite close to the kerb, the same as the cars in front to allow easy passage of traffic on the opposite side of the road. There wasn't enough room for the cyclist to pass on the inside of the cars stopped but as a fellow road user I expected him to wait behind the stationary cars stopped at a red light. Instead of stopping for the red light he tried to squeeze down the small gap between my car & the kerb, banging angrily against the car as he did so, screaming that I hadn't left enough room for him to pass, he then leant over & spat all over my windscreen. Disgusting at the best of times even more so during the pandemic. I have to admit the red mist descended for me at that point & once the lights turned green I pulled round the corner & threw my car onto a verge near where the cyclist had got to, got out & confronted him angrily, instantly regretting it as he was twice the size of me & foaming angrily at the mouth pushing & shoving & verbal insults ensued much to the amusement of other passing road users. We went our separate ways after a bit of toing & froing but I'll admit that I was that angry I spent the next week going home the same way at the same time in the hope of encountering him again & I honestly would've ran the w@$#ker off the road into a hedge if I'd seen him! Thankfully I never came across him again!

That new takeaway sneaking into view on the left, Phat Ladz, is one of the most Edgeley things I’ve seen in a long time. Phat Ladz. Must say, that chicken burger is looking pretty good. vm.tiktok.com/ZGecfhFcd/A Phat Ladz might be worth getting involved with, especially after your recent Chunky issue
