Thank god for that, I just hope it's not too late to do something this season, the next appointment is crucial, hopefully we get someone in who can actually manage these players. The whole "this season has gone" rhetoric is a bit OTT for me. Plenty of points for us still to win and I've never seen champions being crowned before Christmas. Except Dagenham on the opening day of course 🤣

Still make the playoffs if we get it right. I’d be embarrassed if I was in charge and didn’t make the play offs with this squad, and my experience is limited to Football Manager on the laptop.

Still make the playoffs if we get it right. We're 5 points off the playoffs, with a game in hand over Dagenham and a very winnable game on Saturday. It's not all doom and gloom, especially with that clown no longer in the dugout

We’re not out of anything if we get the right appointment made in the next couple of weeks. You only have to look at the run Rowe went on at Chesterfield as well as another example of what can happen when the right manager is in place.

It hasn't been a pleasure. You were terrible, Simon. If you want a future in professional football you need to improve your coaching, style of football, media duties, squad selections, squad management and tactics. Apart from that, you've got all the tools fella.
Bye.

Not sure I’ve ever felt more ambivalent about a manager. I’m sure he tried but he was massively out of his depth and his appointment and the circumstances around it were wholly unnecessary. I imagine in 10yrs time he will be almost forgotten. Inoffensive and beige, much like the football we’ve played under him. I wish him luck for the future but can’t see him managing a senior team again.

Whilst I think this is the best decision all round, I can't help feel uncomfortable over some of the personal comments that have been made regarding Rusk. I hope now we can all move on from this leaving the past in the past. It'll be interesting to see who the new appointment is and how much leeway some fans will give him. Also I have read repeatedly we have such a great bunch of (individual) players.......will they make more of an effort for the new guy or will it be business as usual; only time will tell. What personal comments? A few people (actually I think just one) said he’s a PE teacher but other than that the comments have generally been “nice guy, not a good manager”, or not the right manager for us. I genuinely don’t think I’ve seen much personal stuff about Rusk. I don’t doubt I could have missed stuff but that’s been my experience.

Rusk has probably pocketed close to half a million quid for a 10-month job. I don't feel too sorry for him. Is that how it works? Does he get the full pay off? Stott could say to him you sit at home for 2.5 years on gardening leave and you'll be forgotten about get your full money but you'll struggle to get a job or do you get x amount less than full amount and you can look for a job straight away?

It'll depend on his contract and I doubt we'll ever find out. However, I do think he'll have made a lot more money than if he'd stayed as Brighton's U23 coach and has probably taken a nice pay-off as compensation for getting sacked.

Got a renewed sense of optimism now those two have been shown the door but i don't think there's ever been more pressure to get the next managerial appointment right.

I was seriously beginning to think Rusk was gong to stay on, so the sense of relief is massive. McGhee’s prescence was a strange one too. All that experience and what did he add? Shocking body language and a disinterested look were his “qualities”
It will be interesting to see who we do finally get and hopefully start to move forward again. Personally, I think Michael Flynn (ex Newport) looks to have decent credentials, but we’ll have to show a different kind of patience now. At least we can begin to think ahead again.
I’m really hopeful Wilson’s role will be suitably diminished so that the right candidate can operate properly. Stott and Elstone need to leave him in no doubt about that.
In the meantime best of luck Dave C, I’m so glad you’re still here.
