Remember that Brighton fan coming on this board accusing us of being too ungrateful for having such a great manager as Rusk after Gannon?
Yeah that aged well.

Whilst I think this is the best decision all round, I can't help feel uncomfortable over some of the personal comments that have been made regarding Rusk. I hope now we can all move on from this leaving the past in the past. It'll be interesting to see who the new appointment is and how much leeway some fans will give him. Also I have read repeatedly we have such a great bunch of (individual) players.......will they make more of an effort for the new guy or will it be business as usual; only time will tell. What personal comments? A few people (actually I think just one) said he’s a PE teacher but other than that the comments have generally been “nice guy, not a good manager”, or not the right manager for us. I genuinely don’t think I’ve seen much personal stuff about Rusk. I don’t doubt I could have missed stuff but that’s been my experience. Sorry I should have made it clear...not on this board but on Twitter it is pretty vile.

I I’m really hopeful Wilson’s role will be suitably diminished so that the right candidate can operate properly. Stott and Elstone need to leave him in no doubt about that. This is vital. He's got the managerial stuff so badly wrong,it must be clear to Stott that he's not as good as he thinks he is. I really believe we need to hear something from the club on this, probably from Elstone or the chief exec.who hardly ever speaks. Some managers may be happy to work with a DOF,but even they would want to work with one who was competent and has some credentials - not a stat man who is living out his playstation dream on someone else's money. Wilson surely has to be kept away from the first team managerial side and let him do something else if he has to stay. I'd also like to hear some accountability on his part for his horrendous decisions so far....or will the next interview be the usual cuddly, spoon fed questions?

Wilson's next interview (if indeed there is one), really should start along the lines of: " Well Simon, you well and truly fcuked up the first managerial appointment ....."

We need a strong manager who identifies his own targets, then tells Wilson to negotiate the deal, rather than 'hey Simon who's that blonde lad ?' 'oh he's your new left back, i signed him yesterday, find him a place in the team will you'

As I said, even if true, I'm sure he'll be remembered for it for years and years to come and definitely won't be remembered as a mistake.

Goes to show there’s a lot more to football than the cold stats. Even his four wins in a row over the past month were some of the most miserable games I can remember. Max to think that this time last week he had won four on the bounce!

Max to think that this time last week he had won four on the bounce! All true. Those stats alone don’t reflect the fact that we were beating clubs who had furloughed most of their players and had nothing to play for after relegation got suspended. It reminds me of boosting - where people playing online multiplayer on games like COD join opposing teams and arrange to meet in a quiet corner of the map so one can just shoot the other in the head and boost their stats

I haven’t seen much on twitter but that sort of site builds its entire structure on being controversial and a bit of a cesspit.

A director of football should be taking the stuff like contract negotiations off the manager’s plate, they shouldn’t be running the show they should be trusting the manager to do that.

If you ever see him successful in professional football remind to withdraw my comment about him being a glorified PE teacher . I’ve always said he was a nice chap too but I wanted a successful manager for County and not a love in . Yep never was a blind follower after what was a bewildering appointment

Koeman being sacked by Barcelona.
County and Barcelona sack their managers on the same day… two very similar clubs 😄

I bet SR’s wishing he could have held out 24 hours longer so JK could have earned him a stay of execution by weaving into his post-match interview something about how it’s a blip that’s affecting all Europe’s biggest teams right now…

It’s the right decision to have sacked Rusk. It needed to happen for everyone’s benefit.
I wish him well in his future career. A nice bloke and I’m sure he tried his best. It was just never going to work here, it was making everyone miserable, and it’s baffling that the appointment was ever made.
The whole thing just leaves me feeling a bit flat. What a waste of time and money. The end of an era that should never have ended with Gannon, followed by a largely miserable nine months, that has left JG, Rusk, Stott, Wilson and all of us worse off. What an avoidable mess.
I’m glad that Dave Conlon is interim manager. Really want him to do well. Good luck, Dave.
