What do people on here think we need now? Just another option up front for me. CM for me with Powell's status/fitness questionable and I don't like 3-4-3. Yeah, add Barry to the current squad and I'd be really happy. Add Barry plus a physically dominant pressing midfielder (either an eight or a DMC) and I'd be delighted. As long as Mellon's injury isn't a horrific one (i.e. isn't more than 3 months), don't think we need to add another out and out striker. And think we've probably got enough cover at RB/RWB to get through until MSH returns, with Knoyle, Connolly and Okeke offering different profiles.

Dumbfounded by some of the villa fans comments on social media who don't seem that arsed about him Not surprising though really is it, one decent spell with us and that's about it, they're looking at a completely different market to him, I saw Joao Felix mentioned the other day I can't imagine Barry would be anywhere near their squad any time soon on so he'd be better off coming here where he's wanted! Not sure we can afford Joao Felix

Rwb - loan Lw - barry - loan or permanent Lw - if we dont get barry then loan Rw - loan
I dont think another cm is necessary Bailey Collar Fiorini Camps Powell* Bate Mingi Connoly
Although 5 of those 8 have either had an injury during pre season or are known to have had multiple injurys in the past if were playing 343 then only 2 of them will play and 433 still leaves 5 who will miss out. If powell leaves then i can see a loan come in but i think that would just be a squad player tbh.

Knoyle is fine for rwb and rb but connoly and mingi only good for rb. We saw last season when we played cass at rb/rwb we didnt have enough attacking output there

And I think Bate is absolutely brilliant, but I'd like a more physical player alongside him. Connolly is primarily a defender and suspect we'll use Bailey as backup wide right - he was good in the diamond but I'm not sure he's a natural number eight (and he doesn't add physicality). I'd either be looking to play Bate as an eight and add a DMC to compete with Mingi for the holding role, or use Bate and Mingi as options for the holding role and add a powerful box-to-box CM. Would be fine with letting either Powell or Camps go to fund that move, if necessary (though appreciate people's views on Camps' experience at the level, in particular, being useful).

Then loan him out after that.

I've just received a text saying Louie Barry is almost certain to sign, again not usually a bullshitter. It's good that you've got each other's mobile number.

Who will play tonight and who will play tomorrow? I think we will field our strongest eleven tonight!
Obviously due to injuries we will be struggling to field 22 players so l think a few academy players will play. Will there be any trialists involved this weekend, if so it will be interesting working out who they are!

No reason as to why just gut feeling

Its Blackburn's last Pre-season game so i'd imagine a decent side for at least for first 45/60 mins.

Has anyone heard anything concrete about what’s going on with Powell? I’ve read rumours that he’s injured and rumours that he’s leaving, just very disappointing either way that he’s had zero pre season. He was sat with the injured players when we played Stoke. Was adamant at the cricket day he is fit.
