Personally, I think we have plenty in midfield. Don’t forget the Everton loanee is a big strong lad and can play in there on top of all the other options. A loanee RB is enough for me. Might possibly go for a young loaner to help share the burden with Woots. Fair. I forgot about Onyango who has impressed me so far. A RB is only one I'm expecting and I think we need, unless we get more injuries... Maybe a striker if Mellon is out long term. I can't see it being direct competition for Wootton though. As good as he was Saturday, we played our best stuff last season without a no.9. I also think no.9s with a bit of pace and good with their feet are gold dust. I can't see us finding a similar player without spending big money and any loanee would be behind Wootton. Fair Comment on the Woots competition and I agree. Think we will go split strikers where we think it will hurt opposition more/ Woots is not available. Am sure the DoF has succession planning in place for all players though.

Interesting Norwood is still training with us as per Horsfalls' Instagram story Feel like he’d be a good, sensible addition if his wage demands aren’t ridiculous. Adds experience, which we lost a lot of in the summer, has played at a higher level recently, should add bite and nous to the midfield.

Of course at some point we may play 442 diamond like last season but with wingers this season its likely 2 or 3 in midfield. But right now we already have 8 or 9 players who can play in midfield. We've got dms,cms and ams with none of them looking to leave this summer.

If VAR can interfere in a second yellow then surely it would have to interfere in all yellows? If this was his first yellow and then he got a second yellow which was deserved then what? Just another example that VAR isn’t the magic bullet some seem to think it is. Why? Everyone in football knows there's a higher bar for a second yellow and, regardless, it has a much great impact impact than the first yellow. We have to draw boundaries somewhere to keep the flow of game. It doesn't seen unreasonable to me to change it so that VAR can review any incident that results in a red card. A yellow card is a yellow card, per the rules. There’s no higher bar for a second yellow.

This lad was well up for a move to County a few months ago while still playing for Warrington. Seems like he'll be leaving Scotland already and for decent money too.

We have the squad slots and, in reality, the true size of our squad (allowing for long term injuries) is much smaller. How many specialist midfielders have we got? Camps, Bate, Collar, Powell and Fiorini. Bailey too but he can also play on the wings, Mingi and Connolly may be preferred in defence or called in to cover there. Everyone bar Bailey has had recent injuries. He adds to the squad profile with experience and a specialist DM. It's another body at worst which means we're more likely to be able to let Okeke and Stretton go out on loan which is what they both need. Certainly Okeke. 6/7 specialist mids isn't ridiculous if we're play 4-2-3-1. We may see the return of the 4-4-2 diamond if it gets our best players on the pitch and Fevrier/ Barry could play the second forward. I don't think DC is wedded to a particular system and him and SW like a squad with different profiles of player that gives them options. The ultimate question is would he improve us? If yes, and in our price range, we have to be looking even before our injuries are factored in.

Not saying you're wrong but how do you know that? Though Warrington to County is a bit of no brainer. Someone could have swooped in when we moved for him though.

I'm not arguing that but yellows are probably one of the most subjective parts of the game, aside from professional fouls which are obvious yellows. You hear it all the time about a ref setting bar for a game as to the type of tackle that's acceptable and/or worthy of a yellow. Whether it's conscious or not, my experience is refs err on the side of caution opting for "next one and you're off'' when it comes to the second yellow. Anyways, it's not really relevant to my point that I think a second yellow should fall within VAR.

He was turning out for Cheadle Heath Nomads a couple of seasons ago, before his move to Warrington. Been linked with quite a few clubs in England since moving north of the border. Should have definitely taken a gamble on him

Not saying you're wrong but how do you know that? Though Warrington to County is a bit of no brainer. Someone could have swooped in when we moved for him though. In January, it was reported that we were interested, along with a few other clubs. I followed him on twitter and he instantly followed me back so I decided to do the gimpy thing of DMing him. He replied and hadn't heard anything from County but said he was hopeful that he would and would like to move. Obviously, he could have gone anywhere and we probably saw him as a bit of a gamble and perhaps would only have signed him for the development squad. I don't know if we ever offered in the end, but it does feel like one that got away, especially if he gets a decent move now.

Everywhere I've read it says hes a cm with his best attributes being his passing. Im not saying i wouldn't take him (or power on the other thread i mentioned) but if we do i hope its not just us signing him for the sake of it.

I thought someone on the committee at Nomads who also supports County worded the Club up but not sure if anything came of that, assume not unless the Club felt we could find better.
