I'm a massive Rydel fan, we already know he's a very good LWB and I believe he can become a good LB in a four. But a concern for me is he's not played for 12 months and will need minutes to get himself going again. And I'm not sure we can offer those minutes off the bat. Stretton is the same. I'm starting to think both need a loan ideally. Problem is it's a risk for a L2 side because they'd be getting players who haven't played competitive minutes for a year. They needed to get going in pre-season ideally but both picked up knocks. Pre-season could have allowed them to challenge for our team or prove to other clubs they're ready to hit the ground running for a L2 loan. We can keep Rydel and Stretton registered if we have room in the squad then we could I think loan them out to a NL league club to get minutes then recall them anytime after the first month to come back and play for us as they will still be registered, but if we sent them on loan to EFL club it would be window to window so January the earliest they could return I wouldn’t be surprised to see Stretton go out on loan to Carlisle until January. He’s clearly highly thought of there and knows Simpson from his previous spell.

They have quite a few decent strikers at Carlisle, Luke Armstrong, Charlie Wyke, Georgie Kelly, I'm not sure they'd be after another one.
I could see a Morecambe, Accrington or Fleetwood type.

If were sending stretton out on loan i wouldn't be opposed to see him at Bradford. They dont seem to use Young and are using kavanagh who seems alright next to cook but then thats the depth as the other 2 senior strikers are supposedly off. He would be linking with byrne and sarcevic again too.

Didn't realise they were that well-catered up top. In that case your suggestions are very good.

Norwood on a three year deal! I hope not. Breaks everything we have said about older players etc. Uundoubtedly a good player but he's 33 years old. 2 years I could just about go with..

Norwood on a three year deal! I know he would be a coup at this level but I’d be really against a three year deal for a 33 year old. I really thought we were moving away from that.

Norwood on a three year deal! Somes rumours back! Ollie or James...? Presuming it's Ollie. 3 years for a 33 year old though...? Even if he has some pedigree. 2 years plus an optional third by games played I could live with to get him. Got to be careful it's not another Powell though. Said recently on this thread whether we could be looking for another ball playing CM with the success of the Camps and Bate double pivot. We don't have a like for like replacement unless Powell is trusted there, but we do have plenty of other midfield options.

Norwood on a three year deal! l hope not. Would rather have offered Paddy and Sarce 2 years. Paddy would have flown with this new players.

Would be a very Wrexham signing. Bate and Camps have arguably been our two best players so far this season too. Not against some experience being added though especially in the middle of the park but 3 years doesn't really make sense unless we're desperate for him and that's a redline for him.

We've not said we're signing exclusively young players though and every other signing has been in that profile. No reason why we can't add a bit of experience and pedigree too. 3 year deal feels very Powell though... As in a marquee Stott signing. Edit - McClean for Wrexham is 35 and their fans still love him and he puts in a shift a wingback, which is even more demanding than CM. Norwood doesn't have the injury record of Powell either.

3yr deal potentially keep wage down
goes against our model he wont come cheap and not sure he is our type of midfielder got to be able get about the pitch for us, seems more type you'd want to put on see games out but should not paying top whack for that
Our side though youngish they all have reasonable amount of experience just hope weve learned our lesson with Powell, nobody else be willing to offer that level of security to a 33yr old
He looked well off the pace in that Blackburn friendly, know he played plenty in prem last year but lets be honest Sheff U were fodder and all but championship club in name so not sure he be infinitely better than what we have
I'd rather spend money on a player along similar profile to what weve done so far, but its not my money as such

I feel like we have said, when discussing new deals for older players, we wouldn't commit to long deals. We are looking for value in development. Norwood would be a coup. Will he be in 2 years in the Championship? Dangerous deal length which won't be small
