He looked well off the pace in that Blackburn friendly, know he played plenty in prem last year but lets be honest Sheff U were fodder and all but championship club in name so not sure he be infinitely better than what we have Yes, you'd not call him a Premier League player based on what Sheff U were like last season, but on the flip side he played 46 games in a Promotion winning Championship Team in 2022/23, so it's hard to imagine that his level would have dropped off that much?

Why’s he not still with Sheffield United?

Norwood on a three year deal! My pessimistic nature immediately makes me think that this means someone else is injured. 😬 Him coming in would allow Mingi to be RCB , RB without needing him as cover for CDM I guess, if anyone was injured be Hughes and whilst I'm not writing him off the early impressions are he looks a bit meh to me and could only really cover Horsfall

I'm not sure it would be related to an injury. I'm not saying we haven't got any more but from reading the quotes from the fans forum, I thought it was apparent that the club really liked Norwood but thought he'd be heading back to the Championship.
I almost got the impression from the quote that there was a deal on the table for him if he wanted it.

Why’s he not still with Sheffield United? Could be the same as Paddy and Sarc are not with us anymore. Nothing at all with their ability as players in the same way as they would not have been in for any of our new signings.

We’re not opposed to the right signing over 30, but a 3 year deal would fly in the face of what we’ve been told. Ben getting a 2 year was held up as a special case. As they say age is just a number. If the club thinks he is fully fit and capable of playing and doing a job for us for 3 seasons then why not. That would still make him younger than a few still playing regular now at the end of his time with us. They,ll know more about him and his personality than we do to make up their mind whether he,d put a real shift in or one just looking for more time in the game before he has to go out into the big bad world. This a good point. Rooney is younger than Ronaldo. Not all player's age the same in terms of their game. I'm less worried about a longer deal if he's been training with the club for a while.

I almost got the impression from the quote that there was a deal on the table for him if he wanted it. Yeah the comment was that he wants to play as high as he can. So the subtext was that we weren't first on his list. Would fit DC's line about opportunities opening up late in the window.

Norwood on a three year deal! l hope not. Would rather have offered Paddy and Sarce 2 years. Paddy would have flown with this new players. No point paying Sarce £3k a week to sit on the bench all season, because he'd struggle to get in this side, he was never blessed with pace & would soon get found out. Made more sense for him to stay in lg2 & enjoy a final pay day at that level. Similar with Paddy, he couldn't be guaranteed a start every week.

On the face of it, a really good signing.
Hard to quantify but whilst we’ve started so well, there will be a point this season where we struggle and we’ll need some experienced heads. Currently we have very few, so Norwood’s experience could be invaluable.
The 3 year deal did make me wince a little but he’s definitely good enough to perform for the length of that contract m.

Why’s he not still with Sheffield United? Because like us, they're looking to the future & have decided to bring new young blood into the squad

I was hoping to see more of Powell, I think he could be really good at this level. He's one of my favourite players. I think he's awesome but I have a feeling he might be leaving. Be gutted to see him leave but that's football.
