Love that but I've seen similar about club legends dropping down a level. People were saying the same about Powell and McGoldrick (who had a good season tbf). Whenever I see that name, I think McGold-duck, like in Ducktales. Which is a real case of the Mandela Effect, because the character was called Scrooge McDuck…

I can know sleep easy knowing what Gab Sutton thinks. To be fair he is an absolute EFL nerd so his opinion does hold some weight.

Some experience is good. Three years on big money though? Have we learnt nothing with Powell.

Simon Wilson deserves a huge amount of credit, his recruitment has been unbelievable this summer.

Granted, it might have taken that to secure the deal You've answered your question there have you not Nik ?? Potentially yeah, but if that's what's being asked for by the player, the club don't necessarily have to agree to it. I'm not against the signing at all, he's going to be a real asset but given the criticism the Powell deal had due to length and cost, it's worth asking the question, given that Norwood is already 33.

No, but 3 years as opposed to 2 is pocket change to Stott in truth (especially if Wilson / Challinor are both telling him that Norwood could be the difference maker). Why waste the opportunity to sign him based on an amount of money you're not really going to notice?

Maybe yeah; there's definitely a balance to strike there as he's clearly a player of a much higher calibre than we have, and that's saying something but he is 33.

Whilst the model in general is to now sign younger players we can develop and sell on for sizeable fees (in relative terms) it simply isn't realistic, or indeed required, that we do this with every single player we ever sign. Some experience, particularly when it is of the calibre of Norwood, is exactly what we need to help support the younger players in-game and aid their development overall (just imagine what Bate can learn, for example). If he does that well for two/three years and then leaves on a free/retires then so be it, he'll have done his job.
