I get the frustration that we haven’t broken into the automatics despite the various chances. I came out of their mad again for the fourth home game on the trot that we haven’t won. Walk to find a taxi calmed me down a bit. There is ultimately a nagging doubt that it isn’t going to be this season and hopefully we learn from it. Ultimately that mentality is going to take more than a couple of seasons to change. I don’t think it’ll ever leave me along with the feeling that we can be 3nil up with two to go and waiting for it to go wrong. I’d like to think he’s wise enough to understand he’s not going to have it all of his own way. All’s not lost if (assuming we don’t go up) we learn from this season and do better next time. I just don’t want to see the same again next time. I completely get that after the start we had, Dave Challinor wanted to play it safe and get enough points on the board to make sure we kept our league status. But it’s been obvious for months that we were nowhere near poor enough to go down. I just think we’re going to regret playing it so safe this season. The automatics have been there for the taking and we’ve never really looked up for the fight. Like I say, if we learn from it and do better next time, fair enough. But we better make sure we do. Fairly sure if we fail to go up and we’re not right out of the blocks next season then Stott will quickly get rid of Challinor.

March P 6 W 2 D 4 L 0 F 4 A 2 Pts 10 I'm proper on the fence how good/bad this month has been. Funny isn’t it, without the bad start to the season, that keeps us in autos with almost 2 ppg across the month. I think the kicker is how close we’ve been to picking up so many more points, the hope that kills you. We’ve got a lot back from injury which makes me happy and you wouldn’t know from his performance tonight that Horsfall had missed 2 1/2 months so far this year. I think the massive run last season skewed my expectations a little for this season. Someone on here put it well when they said league two is like playing top ten of NL every week. All in all we’re doing well if not amazingly, 7 more games to put our stamp on the season with hopefully a full fit squad to choose from next weekend.

We’ve got a ridiculous amount of attacking midfielders but none of them can play a defensive splitting pass or get inbetween the lines with their movement apart from Hippo and that’s by far and away our biggest problem. Camps is too slow and safe. Sarcevic is absolute terrible and makes zero impact and I wouldn’t even have him in my 18 at this point. Evans probably had his best game for us but he lacks spark and intensity. At the start of the season I was worried how we’d keep them all happy but now I’m worried how we can get off their contracts without having to be still paying their wages. Yep. Said it for ages. We really need someone to play in between the lines rather than just rely on wide overloads. We might make the play offs but we won't go up.

Genuine question
Is the team we have this season better than the one we had last season?
I'm not convinced. The football certainly isn't better quality
Obvious upgrades is horsfall, Wootton, knoyle
But the transfer dealings seen scattergun
All those players out. All those players in - and I'm not convinced it's got us very far.
The settled team that romped thru the 25 game run last season would prob be close to s play off place in league 2

Camps is a crab. It's criminal, with Croasdale and Wright in the side, he's stood next them playing sideways balls.
Rydel has not taken the warning from DC. Soft in the tackle, plays safe and no chance he keeps Miles out the side.
DC - sometimes we need to play for the win at the risk of a loss. To have the attacking options we have and go 541 isn't acceptable for me. Aiming for 1-0s leaves you susceptible to a wonder goal like today or a sucker punch of a few weeks ago.
8 games. Need to win 5.
Must do better

Yeah, the 2 goals conceded this month were both at home after taking the lead, and ending up with 1 point(Mansfield and Salford tonight).. had we not conceded those pesky goals then we'd be buzzing tonight.

If I had spent as much money as Mr Stott, I think I would disagree with me too! I expect he is hugely disappointed with the season so far, but, as we all know, football has a habit of not panning out as you might expect. But we are improving each year, and the attendances must be a boost to him. We haven’t improved this year. I would lay good money on the squad that finished last season would have achieved no less, we’re 5th because we’ve been just alright in a league that is just garbage Challinor had what he wanted tonight, a team that will come out and play and leave spaces to exploit and the first half was enjoyable, but he blew it, far too negative in tactics, approach and substitutions in the second half Very very disappointing night I agree it’s been a bit disappointing/underwhelming but as much as we love Palmer/Minihan and the likes of Hogan. They couldn’t do it at this level. The players we do have should be, but there’s a couple or three who haven’t. Nothing wrong with criticising though despite how high we are we could’ve done better this season.

Who is genuinely actually happy we drew tonight? sure Salford are the highest league goalscorers in the league away from home but surely we should have played 10x better than we did tonight and had Madden not scuffed it we'd be 3pts tonight also the atmosphere was ok got a bit loud near the end but I was singing and clapping but heard nothing much from the moan stand which is disappointing as the night matches are good for atmosphere also the marking for their equalizer I'll need to watch it again it was a worldie but fluky IMO and so was the crossing was abysmal too

Their goal was just awful by us. They had a goal kick. We looked like we couldn't be bothered pressing and in less than 10 seconds they had waltzed through our attackers and midfield to have an attacking throw in and we failed to defend properly. Finish was stunning. After that we started to press with urgency and they never broke us down again. Challinor should be raging about that. But at the end of the day we just aren't scoring enough goals and so get found out. Our marking was non-existant from the throw in, but is was a cracker of a goal. I just wish we could score a few like that. Agree about the lack of goals, if we could just score two a game, instead of one, we would be in a much better position.

The settled team that romped thru the 25 game run last season would prob be close to s play off place in league 2 In my opinion yes we’re much stronger than we were last season and by a long stretch. Horsfall, Wright, Hussey, Byrne, Knoyle and Wootton all fitter and more consistent. I like everyone adored our champion side last season but age combined with lack of experience and room for growth at this level would have limited us severely this season. We were struggling to beat the likes of Torquay and Solihull back then, we’d have had no chance against the likes of Donny and Gillingham this season, let alone Northampton and Stevenage. Although recruitment hasn’t been perfect, we’ve made some amazing progress but it feels like we still haven’t (football bingo) clicked in terms of confidence. I still think that’s down to the amount of new players we’ve had to bring in and (quite rightly) the way we play to a system as opposed to the likes of Bradford that play to the strengths of one or two individual players. Longer term I think our approach and what we’re building will work and catapult us to where we want to be, it just means we have to stick with the team when it’s not working.

Just before I go to the land of nod....it's embarrassing to see a team of paramedics and stewards go to the back of UT2 to attend to some spotty virgin who has obviously drank too much or taken too many illegal substances and can hardly stand up.... some were asking for help as though there was a fan having a cardiac arrest, but it turned out that it was someone who doesn't know his limit of whatever he put in his body.
I believe he is fairly well known on social media, so hope he enjoys the likes... doubt his family are proud of him and hope he gets his act together.

Totally understand frustrations that we arent taking opportunities for top 3, all very valid
Dont understand negativity that if we make playoffs we wont win them, we've got just as good a chance if not better than anyone in the league to win them, feel Stevenage may be ones to miss out on top 3 id personally love to play them, wouldnt fear Bradford either though they do have the caveat of a huge following behind them which in a big game could work but equally could work against them too
Salford werent brilliant tonight but look a side with right type of players to expose us better than any of other sides I've seen us play
Genuinely havent gone away from a game this season wowed by an opposition and thought yes they look a top unit, and that reflects in league table
There be 22 other sets of fans having same discussions as we have on here about lack of consistency and missed opportunities, the exception being Orient who can rest easy but even they havent convinced they had a brilliant start but are in the grind mode at moment and enough of a cushion to comfortably get over line but its kind of damning of the level if they are the best side in division, fair play to them but they arent world beaters but are the only team in division achieving over 2pts per game thats nature of division
We'd have every chance in playoffs even playing like we are now, as we never look like getting battered we just are lacking a bit of cutting edge to compliment a pretty solid defence
