Genuine question Is the team we have this season better than the one we had last season? I'm not convinced. The football certainly isn't better quality Obvious upgrades is horsfall, Wootton, knoyle But the transfer dealings seen scattergun All those players out. All those players in - and I'm not convinced it's got us very far. The settled team that romped thru the 25 game run last season would prob be close to s play off place in league 2 Quite simply yes it very much is. The bottom half of the NL is dire and we were getting the job done against most teams rather than thrashing them. Our record against the top half of the NL was nothing special either. The vast majority of players we let go are in the NL for a reason. Some of which aren’t even playing regularly. I’ve been critical of some of the recruitment and definitely think we’ve not got a marquee squad for the marquee money we’re paying but I don’t think we’d be anywhere near the playoffs with last year’s squad.

You don’t think he’s an obvious upgrade on Minihan who can’t make Halifax’s 16 or find a loan move that suits him? Sam is a County legend but taking the emotion out of it Knoyle is an obvious upgrade and it’s not really one I thought anybody would try and debate. Based on their performances for us this season I’d go with him over MSH too but can see the argument there.

Who is genuinely actually happy we drew tonight? sure Salford are the highest league goalscorers in the league away from home but surely we should have played 10x better than we did tonight and had Madden not scuffed it we'd be 3pts tonight also the atmosphere was ok got a bit loud near the end but I was singing and clapping but heard nothing much from the moan stand which is disappointing as the night matches are good for atmosphere also the marking for their equalizer I'll need to watch it again it was a worldie but fluky IMO and so was the crossing was abysmal too Not the end of the world is the best way to put it for me. 9 of this block of 10 games played, 16 points earned, beat Sutton and it keeps us almost on the 2ppg target for these 10. 5 out of the last 6 are winnable, especially with William Guy Collar back. Do all that and we end the season on 82 points. If that doesn’t make you feel better then just pretend the red card at Swindon didn’t happen, we drew there and then beat Salford tonight 👍

Totally understand frustrations that we arent taking opportunities for top 3, all very valid Dont understand negativity that if we make playoffs we wont win them, we've got just as good a chance if not better than anyone in the league to win them, feel Stevenage may be ones to miss out on top 3 id personally love to play them, wouldnt fear Bradford either though they do have the caveat of a huge following behind them which in a big game could work but equally could work against them too Salford werent brilliant tonight but look a side with right type of players to expose us better than any of other sides I've seen us play Genuinely havent gone away from a game this season wowed by an opposition and thought yes they look a top unit, and that reflects in league table There be 22 other sets of fans having same discussions as we have on here about lack of consistency and missed opportunities, the exception being Orient who can rest easy but even they havent convinced they had a brilliant start but are in the grind mode at moment and enough of a cushion to comfortably get over line but its kind of damning of the level if they are the best side in division, fair play to them but they arent world beaters but are the only team in division achieving over 2pts per game thats nature of division We'd have every chance in playoffs even playing like we are now, as we never look like getting battered we just are lacking a bit of cutting edge to compliment a pretty solid defence I agree. It will likely be just what we’ve seen in recent weeks. Tight games that can go either way potentially to extra time. DC’s Hartlepool were arguably worse than us when they beat us but got the job done.

They're a handy side but were there for the taking. On another night this could have finished like the Northamton and Stevenage games. I still say nobody would fancy us in the play offs

Haven't read through all the posts as I've stayed out much later than the wife is happy with ... but, if we'd carried on 2nd half like we did 1st ... Challinor was scared of losing for me

On that basis alone I’m very happy with Knoyle.

We’ve got a ridiculous amount of attacking midfielders but none of them can play a defensive splitting pass or get inbetween the lines with their movement apart from Hippo and that’s by far and away our biggest problem. Camps is too slow and safe. Sarcevic is absolute terrible and makes zero impact and I wouldn’t even have him in my 18 at this point. Evans probably had his best game for us but he lacks spark and intensity. At the start of the season I was worried how we’d keep them all happy but now I’m worried how we can get off their contracts without having to be still paying their wages. I’m probably one of Evans’s biggest critics but there was a through ball he played first half that deserved a pacey runner on it. It was a better through ball than I’ve seen from any player other than Madden

To everyone saying we’re not good enough to go up. 3 of us, Stevenage, Carlisle, Northampton, Salford, Bradford, Mansfield or Sutton will be going up. Are 3 of them really better than us?
We’re good enough to go up. Automatic is probably slipping out of reach now but who knows what we’ll bring to the playoffs. And if Madden buries that chance first half (I think he’s not match fit as this is very like the Paddy who first signed for us and also when he was rushed back from the playoffs) then we’re level with Carlisle and only a point off third. Sure they scored a great goal (thanks to our defenders just leaving him wide open) but I don’t see them sticking two past us.

It’s still in our hands but four home draws in the last seven fixtures since losing at Barrow and only four goals scored. Had we won our last four home games we would be three points off Leyton Orient. Surely we can’t afford anymore slip ups and Six points over Easter is certainly achievable and a must return to stay in the automatic promotion race. Missing Collar and hope he is back for Sutton. I have a feeling we’re only seeing Collar again if it’s in the playoffs. Hope I’m wrong though

What annoys me is time and time and time again we’ve had chances to seal automatic promotion, and every time, except Stevenage, we’ve bottled it. What makes anyone think the playoffs are going to be different? We really lack mental toughness when it counts.

There were a lot of people stood behind. Certainly enough to account for empty seats Really shit experience though. I never want to watch a game from there again What was so bad about it out of interest? I would rather go into it when I’m sober in the morning but the crux of it was that being surrounded by people just there for an evening out was really disheartening. Nobody joined in any songs. Even simple stuff like IO County or Dave Challinor’s Blue and White Army I was left singing on my own. There was a bit of it after their goal but it died almost as quickly as it started. Then there’s having to listen to people waxing lyrical about everything Salford were doing, before chatting about the latest thing happening in the Premier League. Throw all that in with the shit view (I don’t like end on) and it was a pretty miserable experience. It mostly reminded me of Wembley 08, without a roof, with a worse view and without promotion at the end of it.

It’s probably been highlighted before we haven’t scored more than one goal in a game since 21 February, and that was against bottom of the league Rochdale. I’m sure DC knows this is an issue. To me Paddy looks way off his best at the moment. And without our other main goal threat this season (Collar) it’s perhaps no wonder we’re struggling. So I’m not sure whether to be optimistic that when Paddy regains form and Collar returns from injury we’ll be fine. Or whether we’ve been riding our luck and that draws and one goal victories will soon stop being enough?
