I reckon 92/3 was the last regular year, not later than the season after anyway. Crowds went up but we were also doing well so it’s hard to say really. You’ll need someone much older than me to say when Fridays started Regular Friday games in the 70s used to attract crowds of around 2000, even though thousands of City fans used to turn up just to help us out. We also used to play our mid week games on a Monday night until (IIRC) some time in the 80’s. Reason for that was that Tuesdays clashed with a local darts league, our crowds really were that bad back in those days.

What seasons did we actually play mainly on Friday nights? And how do the crowds compare to the normal (Saturday) years? Somewhere in the mid 60,s in the Go Go Go era with Friday Night Is County Night. We did play the occasional league game on a saturday but the crowds were well down on a friday night game. Different era with the ability to watch a game on two different days and more people playing games than they do now. Like it or not we did have fans from other clubs especially city that swelled the gates with some supporting both clubs.

I don’t think anyone doubts we had some City and United fans attend on Friday nights but to if you believed all the City fans who said they came along we’d have had crowds close to capacity.

Think a lot of that crap from city fans came well after the time some watched both clubs. Doubt they were the ones that attended anyway and at the time non city watchers did not give a damn about those who did go to main road on a saturday at EP on a friday night. Our fans have not changed that much, but you cannot compare the city ones of the mid 60,s to the ones when we played them never mind the present day lot.

Thought salford were an up and coming big club but obviously they are not interested bringing thousands to EP for a derby match if we get the RE again.

I'm fairly sure the 92 mob are aiming for the Championship however, how do you sustain that with a few thousand fans and the Rags now seemingly improving slightly?

Neville is nothing but egotistical he won't like it when the team is down the bottom and the crowd shout put your hand in your pocket neville. Or he moves them to the sewage works ground where he joins their perfect bed fellows sale squatters.

You’ll need someone much older than me to say when Fridays started Yeah from memory I'd say 92/93 was the last season we regularly played at home on a Friday night. There definitely wasn't many, if any, Friday night games in 93/94, although we did play Reading on a Thursday night but that was down to a ridiculous fixture backlog. The pitch took a hammering during the pitch invasion after the QPR game and we had to squeeze the games in before the last weekend of the season.
