History was made in Stockport yesterday, as Dave Challinor’s men beat Tranmere 2-0 to record an 11th consecutive victory in all competitions, something no County side had done previously in 140 years. I might create a little bit of history in the town myself with my charity walk ‘The Streets of Stockport’ as I doubt anyone has walked every single street across the borough before. There’s a long way to go before my challenge is completed, but I have now conquered both sides of the A6, with the second part of my trek along Stockport’s main thoroughfare available for your reading pleasure today. At the time of writing, I’ve raised £693 for the mental health charity Mentell. If you’d like to get me past the £700 barrier today, please click on my JustGiving page. thescarfmyfatherwore.substack.com/p/the-streets-of-stockport-day-2

This League Two lark is getting rather boring, isn’t it? County are just winning every week. (*Insert smiley face here.*) That’s 10 on the spin now, 11 in all competitions, and yet another record for Dave Challinor and his County side. Mozzer gives us his view from the Pop Side, along with a Tranmere fan called Mike, who I contacted purely on the basis of the fry-up he posted on Twitter. Turns out he’s pretty sound. thescarfmyfatherwore.substack.com/p/challys-record-breakers-2-tranmere

Announce a pre-season trip to New York or Las Vegas, Stotty! Our fanbase across the pond is continuing to grow. We’ve already published two articles written by Chicago-based Britton Barthold, firstly a piece on how Britton came to support County, and then the tale of his first ever trip to Edgeley Park. Today, Ryan from North Carolina shares his own County story with us. I’ve had a play around with my calculator this morning and if we uncover eight more County fans in America we get our own Netflix documentary. (Jesus, can you imagine the stick we’d get from Wrexham if that came off.) thescarfmyfatherwore.substack.com/p/the-star-spangled-hatters

During the football season, the fixture list always presents an opportunity to publish at least three articles each week, with a match preview and a report, as well as a chinwag with an opposing fan. That number usually increases to four or five as I always like to write an article or two myself, such as walking every street in Stockport, or experiencing every part of a County matchday from start to finish, or even handing out Celebrations to fans at Edgeley Park! In order to achieve the target of keeping County fans (and other readers) entertained seven days a week, it’s handy to have a regular selection of features on the go which can be slotted in from time to time. With almost 800 subscribers from across the world, I thought it would be interesting to shine the spotlight on some of you, and delve into your own stories and memories. Today, Bob Carey has the honour of joining us as our very first guest in this new series. If you’d like to be featured, get in touch. thescarfmyfatherwore.substack.com/p/meet-the-subscribers

County face Worksop for the first time in their history tomorrow afternoon. We couldn’t possibly let the occasion pass without inviting a Tigers fan into The Scarf My Father Wore HQ for a chat, so here’s Rich Nelson to give us a little bit more insight into the Nottinghamshire club, who currently sit 4th in the Northern Premier League. thescarfmyfatherwore.substack.com/p/worksop-will-play-our-way-and-give

Eight of County’s eleven FA Cup campaigns as a non-league outfit were brought to an end by a fellow club from outside the 92. Southport, Rushall Olympic, Chester, AFC Fylde, Woking, FC United, Barnet and York City all ended our dreams of getting to Wembley – although it’s fair to say you’re getting nowhere near the Wembley final in May if you’re losing at home to Rushall f*cking Olympic in the third qualifying round in October. It’s 16 years since County last slipped on a non-league FA Cup banana skin as a Football League club, which is what the Tigers from Nottinghamshire will be aiming to do this afternoon. The last occasion was in 2007-08, a season which ultimately ended in play-off final glory, but not before we’d suffered a humiliating Thursday night in Staines. Ian Brown and Jonathan Baker are both predicting we’ll be in the hat for round two, but both think Worksop will have their moment on the scoreboard this afternoon, and one of them thinks we’re going to need a replay at Sandy Lane first before we progress. thescarfmyfatherwore.substack.com/p/county-v-worksop

Swindon were in the automatic promotion places at the end of September, having remained unbeaten during their opening nine games, which equalled a club record. Since then, however, they’ve lost seven from nine in all competitions, including last night’s 3-1 defeat at Colchester. Having dropped from 3rd to 10th, we attempt to get to the bottom of what’s happening at the County Ground with Rich Pullen, host of The Loathed Strangers Podcast. thescarfmyfatherwore.substack.com/p/it-was-a-genuine-football-horror

Aldershot managed to score seven at the County Ground last weekend. Ian Brown, Nick Lee and Paul Thompson are all backing the Hatters to stick another two or three in the back of the Swindon net tomorrow afternoon. thescarfmyfatherwore.substack.com/p/swindon-v-county

Whether you’re still in bed this morning, or currently making your way down to Swindon, we’ve got a couple of articles for your reading pleasure. I’ve got the third instalment of ‘The Streets of Stockport’ to share with you, after having a mooch round Edgeley this time last week. And with County playing in Swindon this afternoon – home of the bizarre Magic Roundabout – we decided to challenge Jonathan Baker to come up with a playlist with a circle theme. As ever, he didn’t disappoint. thescarfmyfatherwore.substack.com/p/the-streets-of-stockport-day-3
