The milliners in Davenport was in our pre-match routine last season. Not a massive selection but usually 3 or 4 decent offerings from places like Bollington brewery. Friendly bar staff too.

Stockport pub crawl. Where are the must visits for people into their beer? So far I’ve got: Heaton Hops Project 53 Magnet Petersgate Tap Spinnoff Is Runaway open at the moment? I suppose it depends on what you mean by beer. If it's cask I haven't a scooby but if craft, keg, belgian/german etc then: Bottle (heaton moor) Reddish ale The bottle mill Archive (used to have dozens of bottles/cans but just the 12 or so taps now, still good) Cracked actor The beer shop (quirky little place) The Angel (do a great German wheat and helles) Brilliant - thanks.

Please elaborate? I’ve only been in once and thought it was okay.

Please elaborate? I’ve only been in once and thought it was okay. The beers on keg are quite often off, or always some generic IPA. They then sell cans for about 6 quid. I'd normally be ok to pay that for something different, but it's often a fairly entry level pale ale or something. Then there's just no effort. People trying to convince you a couple of wooden benches in a dingy room is 'cool', when it's actually just a really cheap set up. There's miles better in the town.

I don't really go out much any more because we don't have anyone to look after the kids/I'm deeply unpopular but do places still set up with that Berlin 2005 look? Bare walls, dimly lit crack den vibe? Little paper menus on little clipboards in a font three sizes lower than practical that you need a torch and magnifying glass to read? A number after the (small) dish, but no £ sign. 'They come as they're ready'. If they do, they should really stop. I'd say those kind of places are one of the worst inventions of the 21st century. Just turn the light on and give me a proper chair.

Quite liked it when first started seeing bars in London like that late 2000s, there's no excuse for it now. See also; 'supper clubs'.

It feels pretty hastily knocked together and a bit soulless but you could say that for lots of new bars I suppose.

Its like having a pint in my shed after it's gone dark and you only have light from a mobile. Found it depressing loads better within a 2 minute stroll.

Oh and Runaway is great. The pizza there is lovely stuff! Absolutely. Pizza is by honest crust - Alty Market originals etc. And the beer is great.

I finally got round to visiting the Lime Lounge in High Lane this evening. Had a wonderful walk up from Mile End with a few stops on the way for liquid refreshment. Have to say it was a bit of a disappointment. Was this because of high expectations? Too many drinks prior to arrival? Ordering the wrong dish? Or even having walked so far?
Can’t complain about the place, it was okay. Service okay. And food okay. But give me a Mr Ali’s chicken tikka madras any day of the week (now the original chef is back).🥳💥😉

Good beers still not been in yet. That Spin Off sounds exactly as I’d expected, shite. I see the little Sam Smiths pub over the road is currently closed. Great pubs. C word of an owner.
