Went out late last night to see the Northern Lights. Very disappointed that no Aurora to be seen , in God's own town. Still on the bucket list, that one. However plenty of bats about and a Tawny Owl giving it six nowt was some compensation, I suppose.

Up here it won't be properly dark until well after midnight and the moon will be just past full, so it'll be up till silly o'clock to watch. Had a pod of orcas off the south of the island on Friday-missed them again. I've just done a training course so I can start doing dolphin/whale surveys. Was surprised at the amount of sitings here. On the bird front a sea Eagle has been seen on one of the neighbouring islands so 👌.

There is an infestation of blue tits in Manchester today, if anyone is interested, cannot say I am.

Peregrine Falcon and three Buzzards spotted high above the back garden this morning, in God's own suburb of God's own town. Oh, what a day. Stunning! Oh and cannot believe how many Goldfinch knocking about this year - only corvids, sky rats and gulls more numerous this year. Happy lazy Sunday afternoon, Yellowbirders!

I'm in Romiley, but never seen a Peregrine. Sparrow hawk, yes. One was perched on the big pylon between Pear Mill and Bredbury Hall for about a week, off and on, last year. Many people gawping at it. First one I have seen this year in this neck of the woods. Lovely stuff. Off to the fridge and then the garden again. Got to make the most of the weekend when the weather is this good.

Probably nesting on Pear mill then. You're very lucky to see them.

[/quot e] After a few minutes they both returned to their corners.Magpie flew into a tree and the rat into the bushes. We didn't hang around for round two.
