Haven’t seen any this summer? yet but last year we had half a dozen buzzards flapping about apparently they were roosting in Devisdale Conservation Area one landed on one of the trees in our communal garden.

Who won? After a few minutes they both returned to their corners.Magpie flew into a tree and the rat into the bushes. We didn't hang around for round two. The rat flew into the bushes?!? That’s Oldham for you, I guess…

Managed to see what was making all the noise at the bottom of the garden yesterday - a hedge warbler. Not exactly spectacular, but not a bird I remember having seen before…

I like all birds. Even pigeons. We get a lot of geese and swans up here on the coast in Cumbria as well, of course lots of seagulls. I spend most my time here out in the caravan awning because I'm a weirdo who likes sitting outside in really bad weather (the badder the better...) and I find myself studying them. They're pretty amazing. We've got one now that appears each morning to look through the skylight of our caravan into the bedroom. I'm convinced it's the same bird basically saying "good morning" but I know it's a bit soppy. We do find ourselves saying "morning" to it though.

I go out roughly the same time in a morning, do the same walk 4 times a week and the same two pheasants are always waiting to be fed in different locations. Altered my day once and they were both missing. Far more intellegant than horses in my opinion that have a memory span thats about zero.

Noticed a lot of goldfinches in trees around Edgeley Road recently. Lots of racket, so younger ones have fledged.
Few parakeets too. Can’t miss them as they are noisy on the wing.

I find myself telling the same magpie to f@#k off every morning for waking me up at 5 a.m. with a God awful racket🤣

There’s a load in Yorkshire around Harewood, and in Dumfriesshire There's been an ongoing reintroduction of red kites:Wales, southern England, areas of Scotland and Yorkshire. It was thought that some would cross over the Pennines as the years young birds dispersed but so far it hasn't happened, although the odd bird has been sighted. Some particularly in Scotland have been killed as a result of ongoing raptor persecution. Not sure if it happened but there was talk of some red kites being released around Grisedale in the lakes. Despite persecution the reintroduction has been a success particularly in Wales and England.

My mate couldn't understand why I was more interested in the red kite.
