Some random thoughts after rewatching various bits:
- Looks like an early, big, opportunity for both sides. Powell is caught but gets his "shot" away cleanly before that and completely fluffs it. As does Langstaff with a even better chance at the other end.
- Horsfall's header deserved a goal. Almost top corner from the penalty spot and keeper no chance.
- Lovely weighted pass for Madden's first from Wootton. Shame we didn't get to see his earlier press that was called a foul. Looked very soft and would have put himself in 1v1.
- Definitely a pen for me first up. Second is harder to see but for me it's CLE who gets a toe on the ball, not the defender.
- Not how Wootton didn't get a touch on CLE's cross, or how either of them didn't get a goal.
- I can see why Notts' fans rip into Baldwin. Arguably the first goal and slip was unlucky, but it's almost a joke how easily Sarcevic takes him out the game with a simple turn for the 4th. Some pass and finish too.
- Only the players will know who's fault it was for Notts' first but my instinct is it's the fullbacks, who both drop when Horsfall was previously holding the line and then moved up when Pye pressed.
- Great to see Barry anywhere near close to his best again. Not the pace or lethal finishing yet but the trickery was there and him vs Nemane was a horrible mismatch. Could easily have had a hattrick of assists. And what a way to cap off the title, the YPOTS and arguably POTS with his first County goal.

An amazing match. Amazing support.
Every now and then at random moments I hear 'Champions again ole ole' from Voodoo Jnr. Great stuff.

Reading some of the postmatch comments on interviews etc. and there's a lot of Notts will be right up there next season if they can sort out their defence or cut out the errors.
That's true - as was shown by early this season, though they still rode their luck. They also definitely need a better calibre of defender. But, I think people forget that the defence and attack aren't two separate units independent from each other. So much of our defending comes from the front and the workrate and press of the likes of Madden, Wootton, Tanto and Sarcevic.
Similarly, whilst Crowley, Jones and Langstaff are class, part of the reason why Notts have scored so many is their shape is all about the attack. I can't say I have watched them loads but Tuesday night it was basically 3-3-4 if not 3-2-5 with the wingbacks (who really are wingers) so high. Jones gets more time and space that way but equally he leaves a big gap behind.
Their style is also pass at all costs. Their CBs have been recruited for that. When it works it looks great and they were better than us at building attacks from deep vs a set defence. We struggled with that in the first 20 without Tanto's threat in behind. But again that comes at a cost and error then came, plus their CBs simply aren't as good defenders.
Where am I going? Even if Notts recruit much better defenders, I can't see them suddenly halving the goals they concede and scoring the same, which is basically what they need. They need to play 4-3-3 imo or at least only play Nemane and Jones as wingbacks vs the lesser sides that will sit in all day. Regardless, I think they'll have an issue that, at this level, you won't find a defender that can do it all. There needs to be a bit of pragmatism and playing the percentages. Mixing it up and going long to pose a different threat, can also enhance your attack!
They're great entertainment - both for goals and style (I think they played us off the park for periods at EP). So I'll watch on with interest, especially to see if anyone comes in for their stars in the summer.

The people who sell the really bad unofficial scarves etc on Mercian Way had taken themselves to Notts on Tuesday night, not seen them away before. They’re not as bad as those who’ve suddenly popped up doing knock off naff prints though

I’m sure one popped up before the Chorley play off game in 2018, remember saying it was a sign we were doing something right. Agree on the prints though. They’re mostly dismal efforts, just changing the details on templates. Another one had Wright at LB and Pye RB. Minor details but if you’re going to try and charge people £20 at least get this stuff correct.

Bloke behind me the other night kept saying Hinchcliffe. It’s astounding. Eight years, three league titles, only six players have ever played more games for us and people still don’t know his name. After eight games in 2016 it’s an honest mistake. After eight years it’s just ignorant.

Wonder if they'll stick with the Manager? Don't know a huge amount about him myself, but presumably he was chosen because they wanted to maintain that passing style, and he had a history of doing that? (at Wealdstone was it?)

Nobody are forced to buy their cut price products especially if they can afford the club shop. Again with the prints i,d guess rushing them out as quickly as possible may have caused mistakes to be made. Some will pay that money even with the errors but not in a few months time when they get down off the clouds.

Really annoys them too! I have got a surname that can be spelt 3 ways and i,m not happy as well when they get it wrong even though it helped me challenge a speeding fine succesfully once. Not as bad as my old man who binned any letter where his surname was spelled wrongly.
