Most people don’t even know the basic words to The Scarf. The number who sing ‘I wore the scarf around my neck at Chesterfield and Crewe’ is painful. I'd say hand out song sheets but they will end up as planes chucked down from the back of the CE, Hedgie and HtH will not thank us when they litter pick!

The speed it is sang at bothers me more than it should Yep. Same with all our other songs. There’s no impact or gravitas with them, it’s just a rushed blur of noise.

I reckon at the moment we sing it about 4 times a game, and often it filters out during the 2nd chorus. I'd like us to sing it twice during a game. Once as the teams come out, and then again with say about 2 minutes to go... a bit like Liverpool with YNWA. This way it can be sang nice and slowly, and during big games then it'd be a spectacle with scarves raised high. BTW.. don't bother pulling me up on the Liverpool example and the old "we're County, we don't copy anyone"...I don't want it played on the tannoy like they do, or City do with blue moon, Sheff U with greasy chip butty etc etc.

Clear blue skies is the obvious one but we've got loads of original songs that you don't hear these days, we had a CD full of original songs.

Not a sentimental person by a long way but streets of stockport always brings a lump to my throat and i aint from stockport. Get a mental picture of walking down castle street, worrall st and onto hardcastle road everytime i hear it.

Just on the atmosphere at EP these days, I think the lack of it is due to quite a few factors:
1. The continued dispersal of people who want to sing around the ground. It used to be that if you wanted to sing you sat in the upper tiers and usually as central as possible. Over the years as it's become just a creche of unruly kids up there and people have got sick of it and moved elsewhere around the ground - LT1 being the the big one but also there's more yellow blockers and people (like me) who have just moved a few blocks away (UT1).
2. Newbies. The above combined with several thousand new people has meant that there are thousands and thousands of new fans who (i'm generalising here) just don't sing. They are either people who just enjoy the football and have started coming to watch us play or they are new actual County fans who just haven't bought into the culture of singing.
3. Success. This breeds a certain lethargy. I'm guilty of this for sure, just turning up and expecting us to beat teams without doing our bit. Aside from certain games, the atmosphere has got worse and worse since the NLN champions season. I'm hoping our current mini malaise can inspire something in our fan base.
4. Phones. They are more distracting than ever aren't they.
All of the above has a huge effect. But items one and two would be the big one. This is further reinforced by the fact that away (when we're all grouped together and there aren't as many new fans) our support seems absolutely fine but it's flat as a pancake at home.

Doesn’t make good reading, we’ve never even drawn against them home or away but our record away is excellent. I remember the home game in 2008 when we lost 2-3 was a cracker winning 2-1 but eventually losing it. Attachments:

19 years ago today since our first game at the Hockey Stadium.
John Hardiker was sent off, Jordan Hadfield made his only appearance for us. We sat in an open stand in the snow. Lost 2-1.
Glorious times.

MK had a game called off due to International Call ups earlier this season and our fixture is due to be played the same weekend as an international break. I'm guessing someone wise will be able to confirm which player/Country it was that was playing but potentially might affect our game with them on 23rd March??
