First football game I ever attended. I think we beat Wolves 3 2. Winner possibly Ian Moore. Wolves defender trod on the ball and Moore slotted it home. My memory is very hazy though. The City game at Maine Road probably ignited my love for County though. I think I'd just been 'taking the kids' up to that point. But at that point I think I was hooked, lined, and sinkered. Not so long ago as some. Most of my youth (and young manhood) was taken up by playing in bands. IIRC, Moore was in the starting 11 that day but got stuck in traffic so was named on the bench. He came on as sub and bagged 2. Over Christmas? That was the high point, things went badly wrong after that game

I’m proper envious of those who can remember their first game. My Dad was lifting me over the turnstiles earlier than I can recall, probably circa 73/74. We still got him a season ticket this year but more in hope than reason as he’s had to go into a home for the rest of his days due to a rare form of dementia. I’m so full of gratitude that he, along with my Grandad, gave me and subsequently, my son, royal blue blood (although my first kit memory was the white Bukta shirt and blue shorts that we also wore for Banks Lane). Many, many amazing memories through the decades. Have you tried getting hold of some programmes from that time to let him look at, its amazing what things like that can trigger. Did the same with my Dad & some 60's Sheffield Wednesday programmes, he could name every player & tell you who he'd signed from/been sold to...but struggled to know who i was
His form of dementia (Lewy Body) means he struggles to focus on anything which requires any kind of concentration and although he does talk, it's near impossible to decipher what he's saying so it may be difficult but worth a try, obviously (thanks). He's still very physically active though and weirdly, likes to dance these days (?)....weirdly haha.

My first game at County. Playing Torquay under the lights on a Friday night. Was special walking up to Edgeley Park and seeing the Main Stand come into view. It's even more special for night games.
Won 2 - 1 with a volley from Andy Kilner. I was hooked on County and started bringing my mates to the games.

With a great cross field pass from Malcolm Brown IIRC. Although somewhere in my mind it tells me it was a mid week night game, might be my fading memory though !

Over Christmas? That was the high point, things went badly wrong after that game This is the one This is mine too. Boxing Day. Me, my then 72 year old dad, a diehard Wolves fan, and my 2 Stockport born sons aged 16 & 7, already diehard County fans thanks to the 90s schools programme, and me who had been a huge Wolves fan in the 70s, but 20 years living in Stockport, suddenly found myself wanting County to do exactly what happened. 4 of us in the pop side, brilliant atmosphere. Despite the slide from that day on, I've loved sharing the agony and ecstasy of the 21st century County journey. Agony of Boxing Day 2005 @ Macclesfield. Ecstasy of Wembley 2008 was special, yet Nuneaton was a great memory too, knowing we were really coming back from the ashes. We've earned the great days of this year, Doncaster and Grimsby trips stand out for me. Love this club.

That mad thing is I'm more likely to be able to name the majority of the starting line up from that night than I would for teams that we've put out in the dark days as we fell through the leagues.

First ever away game at Bradders in mid-70s - only ten but had the bug and was disappointed we hadn’t won - we drew 3-3. First time I hadn’t seen us win and was gutted. It was a feeling I was to become accustomed to over the years.

Over Christmas? That was the high point, things went badly wrong after that game This is the one I was back from Brazil with wife number one and my oldest daughter and we all attended the game. The daughter slept through all the excitement.

Huge game and a stunning goal.

Had done a couple of school tickets but the first game that sticks out was Rotherham at home in 93. My mate’s dad took us and we were in the Main Stand. He took pics of me and my mate with Big Kev and we were barely at his knee.
Became more obsessed in the 97/98 season in the championship when I started going a lot more frequently.

Yeah, you're right, it was a midweek game. Six goals in six for Neil Matthews, RIP and a stunner from Andy Kilner!

Macc 6-0 County on Boxing Day.
I knew from that moment I only ever wanted one club to break my heart and crush my dreams.

Macc 6-0 County on Boxing Day. I knew from that moment I only ever wanted one club to break my heart and crush my dreams. What a f*cking joke that was. There was no amount of weed after that game that numbed the pain.
