I still maintain that an Atletico Madrid style kit (red and white vertical striped top, blue shorts and red/white socks) would be great as an away kit. I loved that Sovereign Rubber all red away kit we wore in the 90s too. Agree, but we have a number of fans who would take any colour but red. Something a still find a little odd when our present blue is closer to being sky rather than navy blue which i,d prefer. Baffling, weird behaviour that has dictated our choices for far too long. And something the club, under various owners, should have put a stop to a long time ago.

Most of those who love the abominations of the 1990’s kits (the Wembley appearances) started coming in the Danny years and became hooked soon after, hence the inexplicable numbers who like this season’s retro-3rd kit, a message unfortunately picked up by Tim Mahon who has basically told us that red will be back splattered on next season’s home kit (though even I thought last season’s looked distinctive). These prejudices apply equally to myself as someone who prefers by far the blue/blue/white, simply because that was how I first saw County in 1966/67. The only other thing I would add is that those kits married to the taste and style of an age tend to become widows in the next, and I prefer modern kits - within a traditional framework - by far. It’s an indisputable fact that all of our best shirts have had red on them. I first said that about ten years ago and glad to hear it now being repeated by the club. Our avoidance of red for the past 30 years has led to some woeful kits. Red as a tertiary/accent colour works brilliantly with blue and white. Would happily have a red away kit too. Sov Rubber in 89/90 and Gordon Ford in 90/91 both red away kits. Both some of our best ever. I just hope we look forward with them and don’t try and lazily recreate something from the past. I said the exact same thing on twitter (X) a few months back only for some fool to reply with "if you like red on the blues shirt it gives us an idea as to where your football journey began".

County played in black and white when I first started watching them. Circa 1977. Fan's from offerton used to sing "Offerton White's we are here" So we tried Woodley White's we are here, but never really caught on.

There was a bit of red on the home shirt for my first 6 or 7 years of watching County - first game was in 1989. Started properly supporting them in 1990. 1977 was 2 years before I was born though......

It's important that people are able to be objective on design stuff, which is difficult because it comes down to personal taste and what people feel an affinity to.
I like brutalist architecture for what it represents. Unfussy, no pissing about, functional, of an era etc. Others find it ugly and depressing.
With this in mind, and as someone who has seen the inner workings of more than one sportswear brand, it constantly surprises me how often football clubs choose their kits and merch based on what the richest bloke in the room likes.
It should be creative, ambitious, contemporary yet observe tradition. The shade of blue we've had to endure at times in recent years has been far more offensive than any flash of red. Smacks of a 'that'll do' culture.

That pic actually looks a bit lighter than IRL. It would go so much better with the navy blue that EP has been painted in recently, too.

A Fred Perry shirt sponsored by Blossoms would piss all over those 'Ed Sheeran' Ipswich shirts... especially next season with even more exposure by supporting Oasis. C'mon County - get it done!!!
