What an absolutely bizzare, mard reaction on here😂 We have 12 senior players fit and it was made clear we would be playing kids tonight and accepting the consequences. What did you expect? The alternative was to play our remaining squad of first teamers, have them not 100% for Saturday and risk further injury which would damage our long term success in the league. Hopefully a couple of the lads that played tonight will go onto make a career out the game but the harsh reality is most won’t, they’ve been able to create a good memory for themselves and I’m pleased for them. DC knew what he was doing and whilst not pretty, it was absolutely the right thing to do. People pissed off about sitting watching us get humped and lauded over shocker. It’s really nothing to get worked up about. A load of kids had their nights made, the atmosphere was decent, escaped with only one injury to a back up. Move on and look forward to Saturday.

I think being 4-0 down inside half an hour is pretty humiliating for young players, yes. Doesn’t mean they’ve let themselves down, but it is nonetheless humiliating. You ask any of those kids to describe tonight I can guarantee you the word ‘humiliating’ will not come into their head. They’ve just played a professional football match against Championship opposition in front of a very supportive 5k. They’ll be absolutely buzzing and hungry for more. Most of them probably won’t make it as pros and they’ll remember this day into their old age. Give over. They’ll be buzzing to have played. Not one of them will be buzzing to be on the end of an absolute thrashing. Not a single player enjoys getting stuffed. Losing is bad for morale and that is why you don’t play a group of kids at once. It’s not a healthy situation to be in, and frankly one that we just should not be in 72 hours into the season. I think DC is excellent, by the way, and like all excellent managers, he makes mistakes. This situation has been forced upon him, I accept that. Injuries are not his fault, and he has no doubt made a judgement call, but I am disappointed in how he approached this match. Separately, but related: Whoever’s job it is to sort out our catastrophic injury situation needs to work extremely hard to get a handle on the mess. It is unsustainable.

Camps probably my MOTM - settled us down and showed quality on the ball. Onyango did really well in both defence and midfield. Touray was good, Ben was decent. Mapengu was the standout of the kids for me - did really well at RCB considering his age. Rhys Watson was good at LCB too.
Thought Bailey, who I like, was disappointing - didn’t show enough as a senior pro. Hughes wasn’t, in my view, as bad as Stranded thought but wasn’t exactly dominant. Not going to criticise any of the kids out there tonight, who I thought all tried their best.
Main thing tonight was me was getting through it with no injuries. Couldn’t care less about this competition, given how devalued it has become and our injury crisis. Disappointed no one put a reducer in on Travis, though, the gurning t*sser.

When did we last lose by 5, was it that 1-6 at Alfreton in the social loafers season?

People pissed off about sitting watching us get humped and lauded over shocker. Well context is a wonderful thing. Anyone with half an idea of the two squads will have known a 3/4 win for Blackburn was going to be the minimum once line ups were out. Anyone with half an idea of our injury situation would understand why we put that team out. As soon as I heard DC’s post match on Saturday I was content with what would happen today. Good for you I expected us to lose today. I had hoped it wouldn’t take until we were 4-0 to show any spirit though.

Highlight of the night was getting to give that thug a mouthful at the end. He won’t have given a shit but made me feel better. Another highlight was we scored a goal.

Their celebrations at the end… do they not realise they’re playing kids? I was half way back to the car and heard the unmistakable sound of Eustace doing the cliché fist pumps; first round of the League Cup against a team in the league below's youth team.

Unchanged would be ideal, though optimistic... I think Fevrier will remain an impact sub, partially as he covers a few position so we can react accordingly. I agree that Onyango has impressed me so far - looks better / likely to have more influence that Cotterill/Pond already. Great name too. On ya' go, son! once fevrier builds miniutes up he will be starting rw for me. He doesn't start over Barry or Diamond.

A one off game that will be the highlight of their young lives. Will only have a positive learnings.

I thought Touray finished the season really well but I thought he was poor tonight, having said that he dwelled on the ball a bit and that could have been due to lack of options in front of him, Hughes left the ground on crutches by the way
