He doesn't start over Barry or Diamond. Not yet but given time maybe. agreed. He missed half of pre season. Barry is a few weeks behind and it wouldn't suprise me if Fevrier is too. I also gives us balance. All 3 are wingers who like to cut in and shoot on their stronger foot of which Diamond cant do on the right.

Anyone with half an idea... okay Challinor literally told everyone what he was going to do and how he expected it to go! That doesn’t make it better though, does it? I don’t think anyone expected us to win tonight, but on what planet is it fair to expose so many young players to that sort of environment? We should be better than that. And yes, the response is “we didn’t have a choice”. Which is literally the point. We *should* have a choice. It is August, after a long summer of no football. We just should not be in this situation again. It is not on.

When did we last lose by 5, was it that 1-6 at Alfreton in the social loafers season? Ah no, forgot the 1-6 at Wrexham in an FA Trophy replay. Ten seasons ago.

Camps probably my MOTM - settled us down and showed quality on the ball. Onyango did really well in both defence and midfield. Touray was good, Ben was decent. Mapengu was the standout of the kids for me - did really well at RCB considering his age. Rhys Watson was good at LCB too. Thought Bailey, who I like, was disappointing - didn’t show enough as a senior pro. Hughes wasn’t, in my view, as bad as Stranded thought but wasn’t exactly dominant. Not going to criticise any of the kids out there tonight, who I thought all tried their best. Main thing tonight was me was getting through it with no injuries. Couldn’t care less about this competition, given how devalued it has become and our injury crisis. Disappointed no one put a reducer in on Travis, though, the gurning t*sser. Onyango a big positive. Could be a good foil for Bate in midfield.

It's more worrying the senior players didn't look any better than the kids
Watch us pick up injuries in training this week

Felt more like a pre-season game than a proper game really, and can’t be too disappointed. Glad just to be back after being on holiday for Cambridge.
Thought Onyango looked like a decent player, and keen to see more of him in a proper game. Fevrier lots of fun to watch too, and Camps really improved things when he came on. I also thought Hughes looked poor, even before the injury, but again, not really a game on which to judge him fairly.
Of the kids, Mapengu and Okeke looked the most promising I thought.

They must be despairing with all the wages we’re paying out to have people sat on the treatment table. Hopefully something gets sorted in that regard and asap.

Well context is a wonderful thing. Anyone with half an idea of the two squads will have known a 3/4 win for Blackburn was going to be the minimum once line ups were out. Anyone with half an idea of our injury situation would understand why we put that team out. As soon as I heard DC’s post match on Saturday I was content with what would happen today. Anyone with half an idea... okay Maybe his description is a bit harsh but how many on here put a bet on us getting beat as soon as DC mentioned the likely line up in Saturdays post match.

You ask any of those kids to describe tonight I can guarantee you the word ‘humiliating’ will not come into their head. They’ve just played a professional football match against Championship opposition in front of a very supportive 5k. They’ll be absolutely buzzing and hungry for more. Most of them probably won’t make it as pros and they’ll remember this day into their old age. Give over. They’ll be buzzing to have played. Not one of them will be buzzing to be on the end of an absolute thrashing. Not a single player enjoys getting stuffed. Losing is bad for morale and that is why you don’t play a group of kids at once. It’s not a healthy situation to be in, and frankly one that we just should not be in 72 hours into the season. I think DC is excellent, by the way, and like all excellent managers, he makes mistakes. This situation has been forced upon him, I accept that. Injuries are not his fault, and he has no doubt made a judgement call, but I am disappointed in how he approached this match. Separately, but related: Whoever’s job it is to sort out our catastrophic injury situation needs to work extremely hard to get a handle on the mess. It is unsustainable. It most certainly is unsustainable, yes. And we all need to stop pretending that it's normal or that it's just bad luck because it f*cking isn't. It's gone on for ages now and it's getting worse rather than better. It's ruined our pre season plans and we now find ourselves having to field a load of 16 year olds because of it, we're in August here for Christ's sake.

Not sure there is anything you can do about that.

People talked about putting Okeke in the first team but looks nowhere near ready to me. Can totally see why Mingi and Onyango were given the nod at right back on Saturday.
