Careful though, it can go catastrophically wrong. I give you exhibit A, mylud....."Anyone Can Fall in Love" to the Eastenders theme (feel sick just typing that) Dunfermilne used that too as a club song, "We`re the team they call the Pars, Promotion is our aim, And this our season…” absolute banger I had to find it.

Very impressed in what I’ve seen from these two games, still appreciating they are glorified friendlies.Seen more in attacking structure and intent than Southgate’s last 3 tournaments.
In this absence of any decent higher profile/more experienced options, I’d support Carsley getting the job on a full time basis now.

Yeah. 2-0s against sides we should beat but we've dominated the ball and looked dangerous with more about us in the final third even without Palmer, Foden and Bellingham.
I'm not clamouring for him (or anyone really) to get the job but it's been a good start.
The Greece game should tell us more.

Trent looks an entirely different player too, and like he plays for Liverpool. Gomes looks very tidy too, like Bate!
Perfect games for them to come in to though.

Me also, and if that makes us both simple then I'm happy to join the club! Hours of innocent fun to be had (well minutes, at least). Careful though, it can go catastrophically wrong. I give you exhibit A, mylud....."Anyone Can Fall in Love" to the Eastenders theme (feel sick just typing that) This is the thing, they tried making up some actual lyrics. If they'd left us (well me and Fez anyway) to just sing along with 'Now it is Eastenders Time. Now it is the time for watching Eastenders', then we would all have been fine. Just fine.

Well that's it, humanity has peaked right there, we can stop the clock. Also- a nostalgic reminder of when footballers (and not just at Scottish lower league level) looked by and large like ever so slightly more athletic versions of blokes you'd see down the pub. And how every squad contained one player who looked like he could be one of their dads.

He might not have done, but then look at how wooden and predictable Southgate's England looked against limited opposition over the summer. With attack-minded wide men in natural positions and Grealish given licence to create from the centre we looked an entirely different prospect. Actually enjoyed watching us tonight, and it's a long time since I've said that.

Ah fair enough! My apologies- been listening to Lee Dixon all night and it would appear my capacity to recognise nuance has been temporarily disabled. I didn't actually see the Ireland game, but from all accounts we played some enterprising stuff there also, which is great to hear.

No problem I get it! 😁 The first half was great I thought although we weren’t as good second half but it’s early days 😁

Always felt we should have an English anthem, like we do in the Commonwealth Games. God Save the Queen was mildly acceptable to me because it sort of felt like ‘look after the old lady, God’, even though the words of the whole thing are nothing innocent, but it just doesn’t feel right singing it at all now and it’s dreary as shit. The obvious replacements are LOH&G and Jerusalem and I’d choose either of them over GSTK. Also annoys we that those who do sing it get the words wrong, it’s ’our…Queen/King’ in the first line then ‘the Queen/King’ after that but most of the players sing ‘our’. The thing is though, unless we become a republic, you could only change it for something we’ve already used like LOH&G because it has to be traditional. I mean, I’m sure countries have changed theirs over the years, but I don’t know of any, it’s just not the done thing. I always feel slightly jealous hearing the Scots and Welsh blasting out theirs with proper pride and passion. They’re so much better. Countries change anthems all the time for various reasons. West and East Germany chose a different ones when they became the successor states to Germany. Spain changed after Franco died and democracy returned. We could write a brand new tune if we wanted. No reason not to.
