Talk on Marions of Marwan Koukash speaking with certain fans. Interesting to see what peoples thoughts are on this. From what I've read he's extremely wealthy and was looking to buy Oldham Athletic in the summer along with a local rugby club with the plan of building a new stadium for the pair. He has publically stated he's after a football club - www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/rugby-league/22949693He bought Salford City Reds Rugby League club and rebranded them the Salford Red Devils. Also the stadium has been renamed the AJ Bell Stadium as part of a sponsorship deal. This is the kind of conversation we've had before.. Would we be happy with an owner like this who would potentially pump in millions but could also look to mess with things like name/stadium etc. Or would we rather a fans group along with reasonable levels of investment come in without serious cash but who would retain the heritage of the club?

Do we know why the Oldham deal fell through?

I bet we start whoring ourselves out to him now and declare him the Messiah, just like we do with anybody who shows interest.
I'd love for us to do what Blackpool did and get in the Premier League for one season without spending a fortune, and then settle at Championship level. I'd hate for us to turn into another Sunderland where 16th is the best we can hope for every year. Get up, go at it all guns blazing and then come down with our heads held high. Anyway, that wasn't the question was it?
I wouldn't want some dickhead like Vincent Tan changing the name of the club and meddling with team affairs. I wouldn't be too fussed about the shirt colour changing as we've had blue, white, pink, red and black before. The name has to be Stockport County though.
But, having said that, it's so shit at the moment if someone came in and said you can have £40m there's not a lot I wouldn't be open to. The danger though is if someone wants to take over us for a piddling investment that won't really make any difference.

It was nicked by the football team down the road from them.

On the face of it it would be a welcome cash injection and see the club getting back to the FL where we all want to be and hopefully getting EP back?
I m not for moving to a new stadium though , would be much better to modernise EP IMHO .

Also, the AJ Bell stadium renaming deal was agreed by Sale Sharks rather than Salford.
If anyone is ideally placed to negotiate with Brian Kennedy for the EP buy-back it would be Koukash.

I hope that there is actually substance to this and I pray that he isn't hounded away without being given the opportunity to put his point across.
We're a club on our knees, we're not in a position to turn down what would be a huge investment on the basis of a ground we don't even own. Buying Edgeley Park would be a dream come true but if building a new stadium is the most prudent option and gives up enough investment on the pitch to get us to our 'natural' level + long term stability then so be it.
Right now I'd rather be Shrewsbury/Scunthorpe; stable clubs competing in the league with a new stadium than the regional part-time outfit we are, struggling to compete with a ground seeped in heritage

Or just move county to Salford stadium. All ready and waiting. Just thought I'd throw that one in Happy if he did take over buy Ep and get us on a steady footing back into the football league Here's hoping. Need somit

I had a feeling it'd take something like that to get some new investment in.

Pretty obvious fake twitter address. Just checked the genuine account & his last tweet was in October. Intriguing.
