Time for FC's to stand side by side and not allow this. What a bunch of dicks we have running the FA. Exactly that, another cowardly show from the FA to look after the financial interests of a select few and not the majority of its membership. If you want to play in Europe that's fine but it shouldn't be at the expense of this competition. The Spanish FA have sold out already by playing cup games abroad, I don't think this shower will be far behind.

I'm beyond fed up of the PL. It was a shit idea in the early 90s and it's only got worse from then onwards. Yes, but bringing in a premier league will help the national team win the World Cup again

On the other hand though. If you get one of them at home, instead of them holding out for a replay the lower league team might win on penalties. I do think the Premier league clubs though are prioritising European competition than domestic ones. The pl clubs do well in it easily make the semis ππππ

The Auotoglass Trophy /LDV Vans ect ect..... has been watered down from a very thin format to a joke The League cup shouldn't have any Premier teams in it in my opinion Now the FA cup has been watered down to suit the bigger richer clubs I wish the big 6 in the premier would F*ck off to a super league and give us back the formats we all love I don't agree with the League Cup not having any Premier League teams in. It's one of our two national cups and rightly a european place is attached to it and gave us our best giant killing memories. If you ask me Champions League should be 1st in the Prem, FA Cup and League Cup winners, with (if we get 4 spots) 2nd in the Prem going in the qualifiers. Otherwise it's not a "Champions" League. Agree with everything else.

It's a bit of a weird one for me this. I understand the tradition of the FA Cup and Replays, but it doesn't really bother me that they are scrapping them (I know the Bolton replay was a classic, but I can't think of a recent replay other than that which has been bouncing).
The stats show that on the whole, the Lower League team very rarely progresses after going to a replay and is more likely to progress to the next round in a one off game.
The lower league team already has a 50% chance of being drawn away and getting a pay day if they draw a Premier League team (A quarter of which wouldn't even be a massive pay day anyway eg Luton/Bournemouth etc)
I'm plucking numbers out of my head here, but the odds of drawing a Premier League team at home and taking them to a replay (to get the big pay day) is probably lower than 5%

EFL clubs not even consulted. Bradford CEO said he found out via the sky sports app!

Your odds of getting a PL club in Round 1 are fairly low... That's not the point. It's all just being whittled away - the things that make the FA Cup what it is. And in a cup competition, you've now got no chance of addressing the randomness of chance in being drawn away. So you get a draw and the chance to have a go on your own patch... Oh, no, sorry. Have another half hour (for now, we'll probably do away with that in time) and then pens in front of the home crowd if you still can't manage it.
It's retrograde.
And here's the thing: it's come from the FA and the PL. What good ever came from anything those two dysfunctional organisations got their mitts on? One's weak as piss and the other is an avaricious and self-serving.

If there's waning crowd interest in replays you can't really blame them too much for scrapping them. It's a bit like classified Football Scores which got binned from the BBC (and the rumours of Football Focus demise), in that there's outcry from people who've never listened / watched (in this case attended an FA Cup replay) for years. That said, I don't see the massive gain for the big teams in this, could have canned replays from 4th Round onwards which wouldn't have created nearly as much noise and would have meant 1 maximum extra game in a season for any team involved in a replay.

It being called 'Champions' is neither here nor there really, it's a branding thing - the argument is whether the competition itself is better as a format with 2nd, 3rd, etc, rather than just Champions. Certainly in the knock out rounds I'd argue yes, and there's a much greater depth in quality. (the old format likely wouldn't work in the modern game with the uneven distribution of wealth)

I'm not saying that previously football was a socialist paradise - it clearly wasn't. But it's been absolutely gamed by the 'big' clubs. The FA really is a joke. It failed when the PL started up and it's pretty much failed the rest of football ever since. Like others, I'd happily see some of those PL clubs sod off to a European League. They're a malign influence on the national sport.

The FA acting in the interests of the top few clubs in agreeing to the Premier League rather than the thousands of clubs they were supposed to be governing (purely for power struggle with the Football League reasons) is the most shameful act in British football history

Good for tranmere, every club in the country should do the same, itβs shocking that the fa just bend over for some cash from the prem because a couple of clubs have had a moan, thos clubs should just piss off into a European league and leave the rest of us to it.
