Is there still a path that goes from the Railway End to somewhere near the bridge, or the old Booth St entrance? Remember using it when the RE was a home terrace in the 90s. There is still a footpath that goes from Mercian way to Stockholm road

I'm amazed at the amount of space behind the Railway End shown in the photo above. When I used to stand at the top of the terracing to watch the goings-on in the loco shed in 1966-68, I would have sworn it was much closer than that. I think the loco shed is now Manchester South signaling centre which is the building slap behind the railway end. That's the site of it, certainly, but the shed was demolished in the 1970s and the buildings there have been built more recently.

We can finally have full access around the ground at some point, something I don't think EP has ever had. Would love to see some proper plans as would most of us! Thats certainly something that should be looked at and brought in with any future plans. Different access to RE and pop side to take away the amount of fans down hardcastle road and the need to go down it as well.

The original plan I think was for the Pop Side to be developed first. I wonder if making the area behind the railway end would help with access to the Pop stand as its being developed?
If the Railway End was developed first and made much bigger, it might stop or limit access to the Pop Side for later development?

The RE land would i'm fairly certain be a key component of the redevelopment. I imagine we will see some considerable works taking place summer 2023.

As mentioned above it goes past the Pop Side and up to the Stockholm Road area, although I think that part was an 'unofficial' path and has just been walked in over time. I'm not sure County own the path, but they definitely did some repairs/maintenance recently to the steps and gate which leads from it to the Railway End. So possibly readying it for future use?

That's all ours as far as I'm aware. Initially the Booth Street development went right up to the ground (not including the bungalow site) then it was re-submitted with that part taken out. They initially wanted a flat block right up against the ground for some stupid reason. There's plenty of space there for good sizeable redevelopment, then even more behind the Pop Side. As I always bang on about, it's long overdue! We can finally have full access around the ground at some point, something I don't think EP has ever had. Would love to see some proper plans as would most of us! Yeah we had some involvement with the development side of it and was told a chunk of it was taken out of the package .. hopefully for us!

Same here, I don't remember a proper footpath at that end 25-30 years ago.

I know it’s ‘them’ again, but this is what we’re eagerly awaiting. Some tasty plans.
