This day has been a long time coming since Mark Stott announced that he was looking into redeveloping the ground and so far the plans look good but there's loads to go at and consider the more you think about the possibilities. The expansion will really make the ground an imposing sight for those passing on the train and in the air and I'd like to think some thought will be given to the external design of the stands. As much as the new Cheadle End cladding looks great this is an opportunity to create something that really stands out and won't age like many clubs who have an identikit design. 100% this. The ground generally looks a bit crappy from the railway. A big modern, statement stand where the current pop side is, with lighting, modern design, and "Stockport County" picked out in big bold letters would be amazing.

The biggest difference between the 90s and is population growth. Greater Manchester has grown and demand for houses is huge. I can't see that changing. There may be a lot of clubs in the North Manchester/ Lancashire space but Cheshire/ South of stockport there is nothing. You eventually hit macc derby and Sheffield teams. It gives us a massive advantage over other clubs out of a limb geographically like grimsby. We can easily grow to be the size of reading. They grew when they left elm park.

Hopefully something as iconic as the main stand façade pointing at the train line, not as ugly as Walsall’s advertising hoardings Hope we retain that Scandia hoarding that's on the Popside, that's just as iconic as the Main Stand facade. That’s structural advertising that

Similar distance, and yeah I know it's Stoke, but this looks smart.

I filled in the very basic questionnaire on the consultation site.
Here's what I put in the any other comment section:

I wonder if we are keeping it as Edgeley Park or selling our soul and calling it the Virgin Atlantic Stadium (insert highest airline bidder) or some shit.

They can call it what they want but it will not change what I call it ever along with many others although it would make me cringe everytime I heard it in the media.

The last thing we need is 'virgin' written in the seats and away fans chanting 'your just a stand full of virgins' 😂

Stott said at the forum last summer (2021) that it was likely we'd sell naming rights. He didn't think it'd be the Vita Arena or something similar as it'd just be more money from the same pot, it'd go to an external company.

Ignore me.

That's if we do go down the sponsorship route. “Something Arena/Stadium at Edgeley Park” has always been the sort of compromise way I’d accept naming of the ground. It’s sponsored but it’s still Edgeley Park. Regardless I’d still call it Edgeley Park anyway. Like it’s still Cheadle End, Popside, Railway, Main…

No one takes any notice of naming rights on old grounds do they? Only when they’re given to new grounds, and then they stick with the first name given.

Good to see plans for that and confirms that Stott aint gonna get bored and be going anywhere anytime soon which is excellent news
Also very clever of the club to make the team crap at the moment too so reduced crowds for the period where rebuilding railway end means still enough room for everyone in short term!
