The biggest difference between the 90s and is population growth. Greater Manchester has grown and demand for houses is huge. I can't see that changing. There may be a lot of clubs in the North Manchester/ Lancashire space but Cheshire/ South of stockport there is nothing. You eventually hit macc derby and Sheffield teams. It gives us a massive advantage over other clubs out of a limb geographically like grimsby. We can easily grow to be the size of reading. They grew when they left elm park. I agree. If we get things right over the next few years we can tap into a big market. And there are still significant sections of society who do not attend games; that could also change with the right approach.

Not sure if it's been mentioned previously, but aren't the plans/drawings a bit crap? The vision is fine, but the plans/drawings look like they were knocked up last night.

Deliberately sketch-like until actual planning permission is sought I'd have thought, we're at the stage where the developers make out it's just an outline at this stage and they really are very very interested in consulting local people and will definitely take their views into account in the final proposals.

After a couple of years in the planning I would have expected better.

Great stuff. Been waiting ages for this! Exciting times. Well said. This is fantastic news and well done again to Mark Stott on keeping his word about developing the existing ground...and this follows on from him writing off a large amount of the debt. We're all a bit down at the moment over the team performances but it's important we all stay positive over the bigger picture which should hopefully still be a very bright future for the club. Not that a few wins aren't needed though!

Small detail, but looks like they're going to put additional parking round the back of the popside, as well as pushing the travel plan.

I like how they got Quentin Blake to draw it.

Small detail, but looks like they're going to put additional parking round the back of the popside, as well as pushing the travel plan. Already seen someone on Facebook (a county fan too …) saying “hope they don’t intend to put parking at the end of Moscow Road East” which is effectively where those spaces would be. From when I walked round there the other week that area isn’t really a green Oasis, it’s just overgrown bushes.

I wouldn't be surprised if there's a busy resident from one of the local roads going round knocking on doors tonight trying to get support to oppose any development.
