Every single successful club takes a gamble on the finances the owner can deliver. Stott is probably as good a bet as we’ll ever see. The alternative was for Richard Park and Chris Bramall to say no thanks we’re waiting for something less risky… er… what is going to be any less risky than Mark Stott??? Bring it on. If he goes bust some one else will move in. If nobody comes in you get your wish with a Phoenix club at Woodley. Surely that’s a win win for you Dave? You cheeky Seriously. You are having a laugh. No I’m not. Not like you to resort to insults. Seriously… I don’t understand your fear of growth. There will always be a Stockport County in some form or other. Right now we’ve got the best opportunity we’ve ever had to be a driving force in Stockport and the wider community and to bring a bit of joy to 18,000 people every other week. There will never be a better opportunity for Stockport County. Bring it on.

With the extension to the Main Stand and the new RE, we will have a capacity of over 14K. That would be a natural time to wait for a while to see how that beds in and how the finances are stacking up. I wouldn't be surprised if we have to wait many years before the club breaks ground on a new Pop stand.

Cancel all expansion plans and show Stott the door. Enough is enough Bring back Mary and Tony Gibbons. Every club with ambition expands and improves their matchday ground. It's very exciting. It will be 30 years since anything has been built at Edgeley Park come 2025.

I don’t think the Popside will start until we’ve got Championship football and Championship income streams. It’ll still be risky. But that’s life. Bring it on.

What’s the alternative though ? Do we stagnate as we are clearly outgrowing EP as it currently stands and adding another 8,000 spaces doesn’t seem overkill The alternative isn’t “do nothing” though is it..? I’m happy with the design, the ambition and have faith in the ability to deliver a quality product we can all be immensely proud of… I’m just asking whether we need to spend between £40-60M that we simply do not have in order to get there It is though. The other options such as only putting a roof on the current RE or other short term fixes would still come at a significant capital cost whilst not bringing any of the increased revenue that full development would (and look shite). I understand your concerns come from a good place, but we’re not the first football club to go through this. Every club that has ever redeveloped or moved into a new stadium has the same issue of paying back. Oxford are building a new £150m stadium. I’m not clued up on the ins and out of financing footballing stadiums but even without a backer like Stott all these other clubs manage it. With him we’ll be fine.

It will be different and therefore perfect for us 😁 I think it will add a nice sort of symmetry to EP But I do think the pop side car park area will be built in the not to distant future after the RE is completed

Photographs from the air mean nothing as EP does not look great at the moment with a big CE and small everywhere else in comparison.

The plan is also to start on the Popside once in the Championship. Given expected build dates the Railway End won't be up and running until some point in our 2nd season in League 1 (assuming we get one). Hit the 7 year plan target and get to the Championship in 3 years, then even if we wait season or two before starting it'll still likely be within 2-4 years of the Railway End opening that we start work on the Popside. And we'll need it. Championship football is very popular and will bring the crowds in. And new stands bring crowds in, plenty of, "we'll never fill that" when the Cheadle End went up. Plus Championship level away crowds - with 18k capacity we'll be able to offer them 2k-4k, depending on how well our crowds grow. And it's good to have plenty of space for more free tickets for kids, future growth of the crowds, making it easier for people to pick and choose games/bring mates/family etc...rather than the carefully planned mission that is these days. I reckon Railway End up within 2 years, Popside up within 5.

Not seen anything about where the cameras will go, if they stay in the Pop Side then EP will look great (eventually), if they move them into a re-furbished Main Stand the stadium will look (on TV) even worse than the ‘…very odd’ you suggest.

Yes. The very best interest rates on a commercial property are 5.0/5.5% (we are talking Government backed projects here) but let’s say we (by virtue of Mark Stott’s credit rating (and continued support) then £40M at 5% for an interest only mortgage is £2M a year 15 year repayment mortgage… £4.7M a season Reality… 9% And we still don’t own it I work in the commercial lending sector. Where do you get the very best is 5%, out of interest? (Pardon the pun). If you are saying we could get a stronger rate than that then fair enough, I’d love to know where from..?
