Everytime I see an aerial shot of EP, I think of the guy near me who says 'that's in the reser' when a ball is booted above the pop side for a throw in... the reser is no where near the back of the pop side.... it's just of those small things I miss That block of seats in the RE sticks out like a sore thumb, but it's well down on the 'jobs to do' list. Actually, if it went over the roof level with the 6 yard box, it probably would end up in the water!
But it's a decent pic, and clearly shows just how much land actually belongs to County behind the Pop side. You'd probably need to excavate the area currently covered by the refreshment and toilet blocks, in order to achieve a decent foundation, but considering there are already 2400 seats on the current Pop side, you'd have to say an increase to at least 6000 would easily fit on that footprint.
The only problem (apart from the cost!) would be ensuring there were sufficient entry/exit points, which is why the Railway end land is crucially important (and not simply for building a larger stand at that end).
A few pictures I’ve seen seem to suggest they’ve cleared out the exit routes between the pop side and the RE...

It must be recent, the scoreboard's gone and the pitch looks decent, it's been knackered since the scoreboard came down I'm pretty sure it's taken today: you can see the BT camera position (the black bit, at the back of the terrace behind the goal).
Though the fact that the Bungalow is still there, and the containers, is slightly concerning...

That block of old seats in the RE gives me bad agita. There’s no explanation for it that will suffice. Still, two shiny new stands in the coming seasons anyway. Would love to see some plans ect

Would love to see some plans ect If we can find an angle to be really pissed about something, I'm sure they'll chuck an article and some artist renderings together.

I think / hope the old block of seats is staying where it is until the new scoreboard goes up, there scaffolding among it now.

But I suspect if a new stand is eventually built there, the whole terrace will be flattened, and the newer seats (if that happens within the next couple of years or so) could then be reused in a new stand. I'm slightly surprised they haven't had covers fitted, though, bearing in mind what happened to the last lot, due mainly to the effects of weather.

Replacing all the blocks with brand new seats and leaving that one block was perverse and a real headf*ck. The delay in changing them now might be to do with the scoreboard but they had plenty of time to change them before that.
I hate it/them.

Few posts about the middle block of seats in the RE. My thinking is this will be used for safe standing in the future. Safe standing itself was discussed at the latest Co-op/club meeting - nothing decided upon, without checking the notes I believe there will be a consultation in the future. The CE would be an obvious place for safe standing, not sure how easy it would be to achieve as I'm no architect!, but given the RE is due an upgrade, it also makes sense there too. All IMO, obviously.

Great aerial pic of EP on the club's Twitter account today. Looks like the Cheadle end paint job may now be finished, but most interesting thing is what's going on behind the Railway end. Lots of house building, and a large cleared(?) area behind the Railway/Pop side corner (the area that was removed from the original housing plans). The Bungalow is still there, and the former bowling green is still covered in shipping containers. /photo/1 I'm sure I read we've bought that piece of empty land at the RE/pop side corner (to the right of the containers)? Could be wrong. 8.7.3

actually prefer that view of the ground to one where the CE is the furthest away. the ground looks less lop sided in that view.

All IMO, obviously. If they're thinking of putting safe standing in the middle block, and only the middle block, they'd be well-advised to rethink that. Because it wouldn't work. If you're doing it in a block, it needs to be at one end of the other.
