They're making the windows floor to ceiling for that little bar/hospitality aren't they? I guess that's what's going on.
It's a real shame that when that bit was built (25 years ago?) they didn't show a bit more imagination and raise it on stilts, tapering it on a diagonal from the back of the stand down to the corner flag. They could then easily have fitted a couple of floors of boxes (or lounges) in, and not blocked the view of so many seats in that corner of the Main stand either.... maybe something along those lines could happen in the future, tying in with a new roof on the stand itself? Back in the days when that was built the club were virtually skint and this was an attempt to bring about a bit of additional income through what was then (IIRC) called the executive club. I don’t think imagination was necessarily an issue but cash certainly was.

I don’t think imagination was necessarily an issue but cash certainly was. Although they still managed to rebuild the Railway end terracing, reprofile and seat the Pop side, and of course build the Cheadle end... all of these things happened in the period from 1985-1995!
I realise grants may have been available for quite a lot of that work, but probably wouldn't have been for things like "executive" facilities.
But I do have a vague recollection that the club actually applied for planning permission at about that time (late 80s/early 90s?) for some sort of "executive box" structure at that end of the Main stand, which would have been considerably larger than the present building. I believe there were objections from local residents, and the Council refused permission.
One of the criticisms was that what was proposed looked like (and possibly was!) an ugly pile of metal shipping containers.
Ironic, then, that one of the things blocking any extension at the Railway end is... a pile of metal shipping containers! I'd love to know how that "development" has been allowed to materialise on the former bowling green... and all fairly recently, to judge by photographic evidence.

It was all a long time ago now and some of the timelines are blurred but the executive box we are talking about was IIRC built when/just after Dragan Lukic was at the club and certainly before Brendan Elwood came along who of course was the driver behind the Cheadle End. In those days the club never did anything ground wise unless it was safety driven and this box was essentially built as a result of the then Stockport County Executive Associations efforts. Ps. I think those proposed shipping container based boxes were initially proposed for either the railway end or popside and was one of BE’s ideas.

Great for the new season or even HT on Sunday, but a bacon/sausage butty offering would go down well pre match for those inside the ground at 10.30am

I did it last weekend, and not out of necessity. It was sheer gluttony and I'm not as ashamed of it as you might expect.

on another point on ground improvements i wonder if we could widen our pitch as wide as possible. think jim got it narrowed which may or may not have caused all the home draws this season. smaller the pitch its easier to defend.

You’ve caused me to imagine a breakfast pie, now I’m drooling 🤤 Bacon and egg pie is a thing. For me, that doesn't go far enough. I'd throw sausages, beans and mushrooms in there too and then sit back and enjoy the sensation of my cholesterol sky rocketing.
