Confirmed that all Cheadle End seats are being replaced Beautiful. You can see how badly damaged those seats are, the frames are barely there any more. Crazy to think everything those seats have seen since the CE reopened.

Crazy to think everything those seats have seen since the CE reopened. Mark Stott has made a real difference to the look and feel of the ground. Obviously we all want to see the on field performance improve again but how often do you see clubs improve on field but leave the ground/stadium facilities behind. It’s clear that at EP they are trying to do both together.

I can't wait to see this completed, it'll look cracking with new seats throughout.
It's nice to see the club taking some pride in the ground after it was left in such a tired state until the takeover.

The key to any redevelopment is ensuring non match day revenue is increased. This will help to make the club more self sufficient and even if Stott walks away, we have the ability to generate revenue. Decent food and drink throughout a match day would definitely help, although this may detract from revenue in Edgeley pubs etc. Think I've raised this before but Lancs CCC have done a great job of redeveloping their stadium from a revenue perspective, they've got a big hospitality venue (the Point) and a hotel on site raising revenue 365 days a year (ignoring Covid). They also recognise that they only need extra capacity for a short period in summer for T20s and International matches. Therefore although unsightly, they construct a temporary stand for 8-10 weeks in the summer and the remainder of the year, the space is used for football car parking/space for concert stage etc. Whilst this type of solution is probably not the way forward for us (Kassam comes to mind), we do need to ensure that we don't just think about capacity but how we can maximise revenue from the space. I think this is something that our current owner particularly is more than qualified to achieve. It would be great if EP could become a space that the community use 365 days a year, not just from a revenue perspective but also to give the County bug to more locals Take your point, but Old Trafford is an absolute abomination. By far the worst of all the test grounds, aesthetically. You're absolutely right in what you say, but I'd hope we could develop in that way at the same time as realising that new developments need to look good. Been to all the test grounds apart from Cardiff and the Rose Bowl, and only Durham comes close to being as bad as Old Trafford. And at least there you've got lovely surroundings.

Lancs have also managed to alienate their core supporters along the way, 13,000 members reduced to under 3,000, it always was an ugly ground though

No arguments on the aesthetics, as I stated in my post. It would be great to have something unique to be proud of but for me I don't want style over substance. I want a ground that works (at EP) that secures our long term future, if we have to compromise to fit the space and get the facilities we need, so be it

Is the water capacity of the reservoir an issue at all? As far as I know the reservoirs were built for Sykes' Bleach Works which are long gone and the one nearest EP is only used for fishing these days. Some of the suggestions put forward in this thread are verging on pure over-the-top fantasy... we're not trying to build another Wembley! It's all too easy to spend other people's money for them. Don't get me wrong, I wasn't proposing we build a floating temple to football with a helipad and a revolving restaurant on top, I was just wondering if the resser was used for anything but maggot drowning contests now that the bleach works has been closed and demolished.

Lords is superb, the Oval's new plans look great, the new ends at Headingley and Trent Bridge are really nice looking (even though TB had a couple of goes at it) and even Edgbaston, with nothing special in the way of iconic stands, has maintained a nice overall "bowl-like" feel. There's no excuse for those big red sheds at Old Trafford, and swallowing up the only iconic building they had (the pavilion). I'll get off me soapbox now.
