I love the show and the concept of it but the thought of being stranded in the back of beyond and a ludicrously long, expensive often overnight bus journey to get out of there, fills me with horror. I love my travel but if I can't get there by plane or train and stay in a decent hotel these days, I ain't going. We flew from Buenos Aires to Puerto Iguazu and that took 2 and a half hours. Bugger doing it by bus. Very much looking forward to seeing how the luvvies do it though. BBC 1, 9pm UK.

I could put this in the travel experiences thread but it's probably better in here. It's a tad self indulgent because I've been here so forgive me for it. On tonight's episode of Celeb Race Across the World, they have to get from Sao Paulo, Brazil to Tigre, Argentina. They either have to cross Uruguay and the River Plate or cross directly from Brazil into Argentina. The quickest way to do the latter is to cross at Foz de Iguacu, Brazil into Puerto Iguazu, Argentina. This route takes them via the Iguazu Falls on the border between the two countries. If there's a more naturally stunningly beautiful place on this Planet of ours, I want to see it. Anyone else on here been to Iguazu can back me up how spectacular the falls are? Watch and you'll see for yourselves. Highly recommended watching even if you don't like the series. As someone who's hitch hiked and jibbed across Europe sleeping on train stations and ferry ports I watched the first series and thought I could do well at this so I applied for the second series, they got in touch and asked me to send a video. Only then did I run it past my wife, she's backpacked around southern Asia, camped at Everest base camp and travelled peasant class across India, the programme makers said we were perfect for it but she just wasn't having it, I tried every bribe I could afford but she wasn't budging and I've not watched the show since, I'd be constantly saying that should have been us. Edit: I've just noticed you said the "celeb" version, that's not what I applied for. I've binge watched inside number 9 over the last few weeks. Very clever, very weird in parts and very funny. Don't know why it passed me by over the last 10 years.

Agree Malc, we were there earlier this year, absolutely unreal on the Brazilian side (Argentinian side wasn't bad !!). It'll be interesting to see if they manage to get down the walkway with a cameraman, it was heaving when we were there at Easter weekend. Not sure if you did it, but missed out going to the point close to the falls where Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay meet.

Mission to Burnley Series 2 is currently showing across various Sky channels (and think on Sky Sports+).
Been good so far from the 2 (of 4) episodes I've seen, some of Kompany's training ground rants have been interesting, and good stuff around the atmosphere at Turf Moor and some of the ideas to improve it.

Has me in absolute bits every time I see it.

Not sure if you did it, but missed out going to the point close to the falls where Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay meet. Completely agree. Because 80% of the falls are on the Argentinian side, the views from the Brazilian side are - as you say - unreal. Yes, we did go onto the walkway that takes you into the chasm of the Devil's Throat - La Garganta del Diablo - and yes, it was cram packed when we did it on a Wednesday a week before Easter weekend. Strange it appeared empty when the celebs were on it?? We also got a pic from the viewing gantry that's closest to the the largest waterfall on the Brazilian side where the celebs were filmed. I'd post it if I knew how. Edit. Just worked it out and added pics. Going into Paraguay was on our to do list but as we couldn't guarantee we'd get back to the hotel in time for our pick up back to the airport, we also gave that a swerve. The locals were perplexed when we told them we wanted to go. One asked if we wanted to buy a fridge!!! (White goods being much cheaper in Paraguay than Brazil) They're not the easiest countries to get to from Britain but they're both well worth the effort/expense and the atmosphere at the footie in both countries has to be seen - and heard - to be believed as another reason to venture to both these crazy but stunningly beautiful countries at some point in your lives. I'm going back in 2026. photos.app.goo.gl/iiJ1P5VcP9T2ALMQ9photos.app.goo.gl/quLyiHK9guAwS5ud8

The noise was deafening and the spray was soaking! I was there nearly 2 years ago and Devil’s Throat was closed, to my annoyance.

Saw the Maracana stadium from the Christ the Redeemer Statue and stopped outside the stadium in Uruguay that hosted the first world cup and the Boca Juniors Stadium in BA. Never got the chance to watch a game there though.

Couldn't see the city below at all sadly. But, we did do Fluminese 4 Flamemgo 1 at the Maracana in the 2nd leg of the Carioca cup final when in Rio. And I did Boca Ladies 3 River Ladies 0 at La Bombonera as well as men's games at River Plate & San Lorenzo whilst in BA. 3 weeks I'll never forget.
