Not showing the City games might be a simple case of not having the rights to broadcast the whole game - people are reading into things again when there might be nothing there. The majority of the games shown were originally broadcast on Sky, both Middlesborough games were covered by ITV, as was the victory at Maine Road & weren't shown, & lets be honest, the quality of the 3-1 home win over City left a lot to be desired ! I don't buy that about where the games were broadcast. We've had a variety of games from across the years, including the Everton game from 2 years before the first City game. And that's the first time in 23years I've heard anyone complain about the quality of that 3-1 win. In fact it probably contains the most iconic bit of County commentary ever, which bears repetition. I can sort of see the argument re. City fans, although it sits badly because it's our history. I don't care where new County fans come from, so in itself I'm quite happy to take their fans. But a complete absence of any reference to us beating City is just odd. In your other post, it's County fans I'm referring to, rather than the owners. Collectively we've not really questioned anything and too many are happy to regard us as being a club that can just at spend its way out of trouble. We should be smarter than that given the shit we've had to put up with.

It not just televised games, they showed highlights of all the nine in a row wins, there’s no way they don’t have the City ones. Also individual goal videos they have done a lot of recently. Mozzer’s right, why show Dinnings header against Darlington but not his penalty at Maine Road - one of County’s most famous ever goals or Paul Cook’s screamer. There's a difference between showing highlights, & showing the whole game Then why not show extended highlights, or as Mozzer says for example, Dinning's Penalty at Maine Road. Plus they showed the Wycombe playoff game. It's choice not to show any City games, highlights, or clips.

'I can’t see an agenda in your post but I sense that you have one.'Especially as you’re a newbie and Stotts situation has been discussed before.I'm a newbie to posting, but I read this board/the other one every day, mainly for mustafa's jokes. I also enjoyed your Tesco diaries. I did see the Stott post the other day, from Private Eye, but didn't see anyone mention the Dubai thing. The fact that article was even posted didn't go down very well with some as I recall. I'd just like to know if anyone knew to what extent, or if at all, he's profited from modern slavery. If that question had been asked, I wouldn't have set up an account. I've had to read a little about the situation over there for work purposes, so wondered if anyone had looked into it. Possibly I do have an 'agenda', I've not really thought about it, but if everyone who asks questions of the owner is accused of having an agenda then we really are moving dangerously into City territory. I don't know how long it took for them to become apologists, and to sell their soul, but don't remember it being much longer than a fortnight. Hope we don't go the same way. Obviously, the majority of top 5 tier owners in this country are to some degree, questionable figures, with questionable motives - but therein lies the problem. In this case, I've no reason to assume there's anything untoward with Stott's motives. For me though, as it's been mentioned further down, it's mad that we have absolutely no control over our club. I'd welcome a shift towards the models in countries where they legislate in favour of supporter ownership for all teams - Germany, Argentina, Sweden etc, but I accept such a shift isn't anywhere near imminent. Instead we rely on crippling short-termism. Surely the former is a better option. We were fan owned once. Didn't go particularly well!

I might not want to go on a walking holiday with our new owner but it's a good job the deal went through when it did or we would be right in the clarts. Past history tells us that the sensible thing to do is maintain a healthy scepticism and enjoy the ride.

We were fan owned once. Didn't go particularly well! Slightly reductive. They were hardly auspicous circumstances - circumstances brought about from previous mismanagment. Fan ownership only works when it's not an opt in/opt out system, like in the countries I mentioned. If every club was supporter owned, and could only spend say 60% of income on wages, then it' would solve the majority of problems facing football today (ticket prices, unsustainability etc). We wouldn't have had our problems, nor would Bury and so on...

I'd love to see the German model here but it won't happen because we're not that kind of country, we don't go in for collectivism, we go go for the quick fix and while I don't like it much I'm looking forward to seeing my team win more than they lose.

It's like comparing apples and crack cocaine when saying we should run it like other countries. We don't, we never will so sadly, you're stuck with the man you could never trust.

Please correct me if I’m wrong, as I genuinely want to know. From what I’ve read, Mark Stott is a conservative donor, and a City fan (admittedly a minor point), who made his money through the emerging Dubai Property market. I’d like to know more about him. For example, did he simply purchase the properties in Dubai or did he organise projects from the ground up? Where does he stand on the modern slavery situation in Dubai, and was his fortune built (albeit legitimately) on the back of exploited migrant workers? If so, would this not put us on shaky ground should we ever seek to criticise City again? I just think we should be asking more questions, as I wouldn’t like us to bury our heads in the sand like others are content with doing when the money rolls in. To his credit, in that initial interview I thought he came across really well, and said all the right things with regards to Gannon, and EP and the like. At the same time, if true that he’s a tory donor, then I’m not sure the generous recent donation to the NHS makes up for financially supporting the party that ultimately wants away with it. I don't care if he's got money, I find it difficult to be even mildly excited about the guy. I’m also not a fan of making a video saying ‘there’s no new owners here’ and then changing our logo without consultation… but that couldn’t be a smaller issue… Personally, I just don’t trust the bloke, and never will. I get that you're concerned about the origins of his money, football is full of shady cash, but without anything concrete we're just going to have to trust that he earned his money via legitimate means. As for his political stance, I couldn't care less, and care even less that he donates to the Tories (the NHS donation does seem a little contradictory, but I'm not making a big issue out of it). It's up to him how he votes and spends his cash, hence why I didn't complain when he bought County. I would love for the club to be run in the mould of a left-wing, wonderful fan-owned co-operative socialist utopia, but as I don't have a few million quid it isn't going to happen. Plus if you fit the pieces together, football, like all big businesses, are attractive to capitalists and capitalists generally vote Tory. That's just how it is. I would hazard a pretty good guess that most football club owners are Tories. If you're that arsed then get some legitimate evidence against him, get out there, organise a boycott/protest and make a difference. Otherwise you're just moaning on a messageboard. 8.0.1

Who cares if he is a tory. Nobody does as far as I can tell - reading between the lines I think the worry is that he runs the club the way the Tories are running the country? First I've heard of him being a donor, but I don't think we should jump to any conclusions

The strangest post I’ve read on here and makes you look a tad silly. 1. What does his political views have to do with anything? Would his religion or choice of teabags bother you if it was different to yours? 2. How can you not trust a bloke that has done nothing dishonest in his spell with us? 3. What has modern day slavery in Dubai got to do with Stott? What does his views on modern day slavery in Dubai got to do with Stott’s involvement with Stockport County?

Mozzer has put where I’m at into words already.
The signs since Stott’s takeover have been good, on the whole. There are a couple of things that are slightly 👀, so to speak, but it’s too early to make any firm judgements for me.
The badge thing they got wrong, I think, but I suspect it’s just part of modern football and the way clubs do things. I can look past it. Start changing colours or faffing about with stadium names and I’d start to take an issue.
The fact that he’s a Tory... who cares? Nearly half the population voted Tory not six months ago. I don’t subscribe to that political view, but in the not too distant past we had a Labour chairman who was utterly dreadful.
We should be discerning and keep a sense of realism about us. If we do we’ll be fine.

He has started pretty well, the signings have been decent the plans to 're develop sound interesting, I'm not keen on the badge but can live with it, the away kits are okay... the City stuff is knawing away at me a bit but we simply have to wait and see.
