I realise for some people what I’ll say is a waste of time. For most people it should also be strictly confidential. This, though, is sadly, publicly available. I reckon everyone with children, should think about their own children now. Shamima Begum was a child when she left the UK. She was only 15. Since then, she has been involved in executions and torture. Also, she’s given birth to three children - all have died. Can anyone imagine the trauma this CHILD has been through? For what it’s worth, I think this current situation is nothing about ISIS or terrorists. It’s about how we treat children and others traumatised by war. Interesting use of the phrase ‘involved with’ there. generally, it involves seeing your friends and family being on the receiving end, rather than carrying them out yourself... There’s certainly an argument for charging her parents as well as her for the grooming, but plenty of her actions were carried out long after she was past the age of responsibility.

She’s 20 years old now. Would you want your children held responsible for their actions at that age to such an extent the whole country abandons her? Have you ever seen photos of 12 year old soldiers, with AK47s? War children? Children being used as soldiers is a worldwide problem. Who’s to blame for what they’ve done? Is it the child? I don’t have an answer. Only thing I know is that the child is not to blame.

Bet those who say we shouldn't have her back are the first to complain when we have problems deporting foreign criminals

To be honest, I find it more than a little offensive that you’re comparing a teenager who grew up with loads of opportunities in the wealthiest city in one of the wealthiest countries in the world to a small child who has watched their parents be raped / murdered by a militia like the LRA and forced to join up or be killed. the situations are not at all comparable. I think she should be allowed back in the country because I don’t think the state should be able to remove citizenship from anyone and leave someone stateless. It’s a basic human rights apply to all humans, even the scummy ones issue.

Don't care what she's been through, we reap what we so.
Yeah, she's our problem it seems, spend thousands on legal aid, etc, but hey she's a brit. I'm pretty sure by the end of this, more would have been spent on defending her than compensating those she mocked after the Manchester bomb.
70 odd years ago you'd be saying the nazis weren't given a fair trail at nuremberg, and they were victims, too.
I'm so glad I don't live in the UK anymore, so many of you have lost the plot.
Do you all not see how useful an idiot those defending her right to fair treatment makes us look, they laugh at us. Our enemies are certainly not advocating fair trails on their message boards.
But, hey, hug them, support them with defensive posts, advocating using your money to defend them... It's OK, I'm sure they'd give you the same respect.
Some of her defenders on here don't know the real world, the problems, the pain, the suffering, they think they do. But, they live in a predominantly white town, never lived outside the sk or m postcode, but they 'get' the world we're living in. BS.
As so many say, there is a 'lived life experience', well, until you see how much our enemies hate us and our weakness in dealing with this, stick to your safe spaces. I kinda think this board is becoming like this, a safe, lefty space where admin want all to agree to the party line.
However the majority opinion and line of thought on here is only here, the line of thought promoted on here is the minority in the real world.
Anyhow, won't say any more, as the cancel culture is rife in the country I used to call home.

That's a block of flats.

Now you’ve had your dramatic little episode: You seem to be saying we should be acting more like the terrorists: treat them how they treat us, kind of thing. If that’s your view, that’s... your prerogative, I guess. But if you think the way to stop radical terrorism is to behead people like they do, or engage in the same kind of hatred and divisiveness, perhaps it’s worth thinking about how radicalism spreads. For what it’s worth, I’ve lived in two of the UK’s most diverse cities. My view is nothing to do with living in a white or privileged environment, and everything to do with knowing the difference between right and wrong; and civilised and uncivilised.

You don’t have to scratch too deep to find the real person.
I spent almost 30 years working in war and disaster zones. I wouldn’t be so arrogant to suggest I have an idea what it’s like being a victim in those zones, I just tried to help. I struggle to understand how someone, with not the slightest clue, can be assertive in their view.
By the way, admin, I seem to have three profiles. All due to being pissed. Sorry. How do I delete the ones which were created by me trying to sign in?

Got to admire padbrat's almost faultless record of making a fool of himself whenever he posts.
The Begum situation simply comes down to the application of the law. It is illegal to make someone stateless and that's exactly what Javed did to her.
The government's argument is that she's got dual citizenship so they can strip her of her British citizenship but Bangladesh have said that even if she's entitled to citizenship, she's never invoked it so is not their citizen. We therefore can't strip her of Brotosh citizenship as it leaves her stateless.
As soon as they made th decision I said that she'd win it. Javed made the decision to look tough and then when it's overturned they can blame it on the courts for her regaining her citizenship.
And whether she wins the court case or not, as soon as she steps foot back into Britain, she cannot be removed again. The government know that and that's why they're fighting it. To remove someone from the UK, you have to have somewhere you can send them to. There is nowhere they can legally send her to; can't send her to Bangladesh or Syria as she isn't a citizen of either country.
She's coming back to stay, I'm afraid. She'll never see anyone again though, through prison or protection.

I think you're probably right about public opinion but which country do you suggest takes in this British girl and why should they pay for her accomodation? If I committed a crime in Spain and got deported, Britain would have to take me.
