Is that just a Rooney family accent or is it specific to the area of Liverpool they are from? 😂

Probably the latter. Interesting that he thinks we have a 'fairly ' close-knit group of players- i guess there are some not so well integrated as others.

A little late in commenting on this game because of doing other things, but I thought we were brilliant tonight. Every player put in a real shift, and for me it was the best overall performance of the season.
Like most, I criticised the players for Saturday’s disappointment, but full credit tonight. That’s the way to respond and show your ability. Chesterfield couldn’t lay a glove on us.
Really looking forward to Rochdale. I don’t expect us to get anything there, but it should be a good test.

This is a point that others have touched on before, but I think it's worth bringing up again: How well Reid is looking alongside Bennett.
Having a front two isn't something County fans are that used to these days, since JG's been a big proponent of the 'point attacker' no.9, and it does feel a bit old school having two up front. But Reid has looked excellent the few brief times he's had a chance alongside Bennett, and tonight we got a full (well, almost) match with the two of them together, and it's no coincidence that it's also perhaps the best we've looked in the final third all season. Most other games we've been relentless centrally & defensively but struggled to look a real goal threat, but now with CJ dropping out wide (where IIRC he was at his best for Tranmere) and Reid going central, things have finally clicked. Reid said on the County Live podcast that he likes playing off a big 9 and I can see why. I'm used to thinking of having two up top as a luxury, leaves you a man down elsewhere, but seeing the presence of Bennett and mobility of Reid I can definitely see it working.
FOotball can be an arms race at times, it wasn't long ago that a lone 9 with wide men either side shook things up, perhaps having a front two will be making a comeback

Think that's a good interview by Jim.
Backing up what he meant at weekend about players finding solutions. Not getting phased by set backs and coming out stronger.
Hopefully the lads he mentioned who haven't trained will do so today and tomorrow to at leadt make the bench Saturday.
Think we have a fighting chance Saturday if we can be solid at the back. We obviously have goals in us..

It was encouraging to hear JG's response tonight and even more so that he had taken the opportunity to stand back (literally) and see the performance from a different perspective.
I am sure that the team felt better with the sanction to do things progressively as they worked them out for themselves on the pitch. I am pleased that this move forward produced such a good result and I hope that it will also give the lads a chance to enjoy the Rochdale game and prove themselves capable at that level.

He said, "really close knit" didn't he? Deffo said 'really'. Ear trumpet for Bilby ! For me the evidence from all the interviews - both words and body language - suggests that the group is tight. That said, I wish Chris Ridgeway would stop going on about the old guard and new guard, John R. put him straight on that very quickly; we’ve moved on, they are one team. By the bye, I looked in on Curzon v Darlington (0 - 3) ‘highlights’ with Bully, Alex Curran and Darren Stephenson. Shocking in every respect, the standard of football was dire, and a sharp reminder of what we’ve left behind for good. None of these three look anywhere near good enough for us now, and I don’t think we’ll see Alex Curran back here. Alun Armstrong’s Darlo well worth the win, but possibly Curzon’s worst performance of the season. We really have come a long way, but worth a look just to remind ourselves of where we were so very recently.

He said, "really close knit" didn't he? Deffo said 'really'. Ear trumpet for Bilby ! Got them free from the Aussie Govt when diagnosed with hearing loss 2 years ago. Brilliant, but was not wearing them as me and the wife were listening to JR's interview trying to make out the scouse accent. Otherwise great for TV - can hear a linesman fart on the Bergara stand side!!
