When I'm in England I rarely eat fish and chips but when I'm abroad I really miss it. Are you more of a baby’s head man Vic now you know what they are.🤣😱 That's a hideous term.

The one near Morecambe's old ground was top notch unlike their new ground where there is sod all. funny how this seems an indictment of all new grounds even with morecambe being closer and not further away from the town centre.

Today I drove around 20km to a village with a Brit community and an English pub because they do fish and chips on a Friday, this thread made me do it and it was worth it, I'm now happy to go back to tapas and menu del dia.

When I lived in Vitoria, I loved the menu del dias. Came with unlimited red wine. Is that the case where you are? Back in 89-91, not eating meat was not really a concept understood by the locals. Do you struggle over there with that Vic?

Meat is big here but they usually have options, the red wine isn't unlimited anymore but we usually get a bottle, it's good value at between 8 and 10 euros for 3 or 4 courses.

Missed most of this thread so may well have been said but there used to (maybe still is?) be a really nice chippy near Accrington’s ground. Opposite one of those two big pubs that County fans used to fill up. would be a good idea when they do these football ground guide things to include the best chippy and little cafes near grounds. not every fan wants pubs or even eat in them.

Football Ground guides are often hit and miss. I think the ones on COWS/County's programme tend to only give directions for drivers - they don't tend to give directions for travel by train for example. I think Footballgroundguide.com tend to give advice on places to eat as well as places to drink.

When i visit my mother in Spain she always insists on taking us to places that do Sunday roasts & whilst the food is always good i find it really odd eating a big roast dinner in the baking Spanish sun! I feel the same about going for a curry over there too. I suppose if you live there it's nice to have the occasional reminder of home but I prefer the tapas & a menu del dia all day long!

I really don't like the expat towns but occasionally it's a treat, I'll probably not do that again this year.

I think Footballgroundguide.com tend to give advice on places to eat as well as places to drink. agree about the train travel, but the eating advice always seems to revolve round pubs that sell food. might be reading the wrong ones though.
