The 1st WC i remember was 78, but the 1st one where I took any serious notice was 1982, and was amazed by Rossi. Not sure how his domestic career went but he was certainly the name I associate with great Italian strikers.

This thread is going to prove extremely useful for compiling the new TSBW podcast jingles. Listeners to the latest ep will know what I mean.

Not sure how his domestic career went but he was certainly the name I associate with great Italian strikers. Same here. For me he was always frozen in time at the '82 world cup & that Brazil match in particular, when his name popped up the other day i had instant flashbacks to being a kid that year, emulating the like of Rossi down the park with mates, the admiral England shirt, Panini sticker books. I asked for the subbuteo world cup edition that year & as a kid it was probably the only year i went looking for a present, i nearly wet myself with joy when i found it! i remember it had a little replica of the world cup with it, about 6" tall, we used to take it down the park & have little competitions & the winners would parade around with this little bit of plastic like it was the real thing happy days! RIP Paolo.

Tommy Lister gone now. For those who don’t know him by name he’s the huge dude who played Deebo in the film Friday. Also a former wrestler.

No disrespect intended.. but he’s one of those who I thought died years ago. When he was 55 there’s no way he looked like he had almost another 40 years in him. Another link with the glorious 70s gone. RIP Tommy... a proper working class football man.
