I'm possibly mixing up messageboards, but wasn't there a Screech on the old Yellowboard?

Yes I think so, as I remember their signature 'Saved by Gannon's Bell'

Really sad news that. I saw he had cancer recently but didn't realise it was at such an advanced stage.

Really sad news that. I saw he had cancer recently but didn't realise it was at such an advanced stage. all deaths are sad for somebody, but i have no idea who that gut is and never heard of him. same with quite a lot of these deaths mentioned on here. any other old fart on here have similar problems.

They really don't make them like Captain Tom anymore, so glad he was knighted last year, a true hero. R.I.P.

Inspirational chap, as much for his service in WW2 as his later life. Thoroughly decent and seemed a pleasant fellow.
Can't help thinking he's been ridden for as much as they could take from him the last few months. A shame. And people don't even see it and can't seem to stop it. Ever thus, and ever will be.

Ever thus, and ever will be. just my take on the situation myself. allowing a 100 year old to fly to the west indies in a pandemic was never on. if i had helped to arrange the thing when my mother reached 100 herself i,d have received some flak about the outcome a few weeks later.

He was living in a care home wasn't he? They've not been the safest of places in all this

If I'd made it to 100, I'd gladly see my life out with a bit of sun in Barbados if the opportunity arose. He was 100 years old, his family didn't have a duty to keep him alive to keep up public morale. They did entirely the right thing giving him a nice break away after the year we've all had. He'd more than earned it.
