Genuinely, why not? It's like someone saying "I have never watched the Sopranos"? Like, why would you choose to not watch some of the greatest TV ever created when there's ample opportunity to do so? I'm kidding (sort of). But don't be daft...find it and watch it. It's fantastic comedy. Funny you say that as i have never watched the sopranos either. Spend too much time on here or watching nostalgic movies of the 40,s and 50,s. So bad that the last time i went to the cinema was actually at the plaza to see the 39 steps on a large screen. If you like gangster movies, or any of the modern genre of series-drama/thrillers then you're missing out hugely not watching the Sopranos. You simply have to. I can't emphasise how much you're missing out on if you even remotely enjoy watching TV drama. I would say "watch it, it's great" about a lot of TV, but I'd rarely go as far as to say that your life is less fulfilled by not seeing and having the opportunity to appreciate it, but in the case of the Sopranos I do. I think it's a work of TV art. I'm a fan as you can probably tell. In terms of the Office, I know it's quite divisive because it's Gervais, but it's cutting edge, original, extremely uncomfortably funny humour. And if you've ever worked in an office, again I think it's just a no brainer because you'll spend a lot of time comparing the characters to dickheads you've worked with.

Fred Elliot and Wallace (the Northern rocket man, bread maker, were rabbit catcher, wrong trousers wearer and sheep rescuing knotter), never seen in the same room as each other at the same time ...

Football genius Stan Bowles has died age 75. I didn't realise he was born fairly locally (Collyhurst).

Football genius Stan Bowles has died age 75. I didn't realise he was born fairly locally (Collyhurst). Similarly for many years I believed Bowles to be of Southern origin, being associated of course primarily with QPR. But wikipedia confirms what I since dimly recall having learnt; that he started out up here and was ar City as a younger pro. Fond memories of him as a player expressed during the commentary on the Arsenal-Newcastle tonight, nice to hear.

His cousin Paul Bowles played for us of course, his son lives in Bury. In the late 60s he went out into town with alleged hell raiser Tony Coleman and Paul Hince (former sports editor of the MEN). Despite all 3 being hammered Coleman attempted to drive them home but crashed his swanky American car into a ditch whilst Bowles was asleep in the back. Fearing the consequences Coleman and Hince fled the scene, leaving Bowles still asleep in the back. Not sure the end of the story but apparently a blue leaning copper spotted the car and roused Bowles and just sent him on his way home, not a word uttered to the press. Not hard to imagine the furore if that happened to 3 Premiership stars today.

Was it Stan who uttered the fabulous comment about getting his life the wrong way round by wasting all his money on fast women and slow horses? Great player in his day. Another one who should have played for England far more than the 5 times he did. RIP Stan.

Yes, and who was that manager of a top international side who said players like him and frank worthington would have got far more caps if they were born in another country. Another one who fans loved but the authorities didn,t which could be the case why england have won naff all for nearly 60 years where skill and flair are down the list of a players requirements looking for the total proffesional and a role model off the pitch to others.
