Minging night at the office really, started brightly 1st 15 mins and Jennings and Rooney both had good chances thats when needed to score as it was quickly apparent where game was going to be few on chances as pitch cut up quickly and is woeful at the minute and that isnt going to change for season now.
Croasdale and Maynard were both abysmal and totally anonymous, Hogan has played well recently but its piss poor defending regardless of whether he gets a faint touch on ball or not (looked stonewall to me) but he'd recovered with his pace and doesnt need to go to ground there but that lack of composure and rashness comes to roost again, not sure if hes been sent off for dissent or the challenge if its the latter the ref doesnt know the laws as it was a genuine attempt to play the ball if its dissent then he's a f*****g numpty.
The first goal is an aberration obviously its a shocking backpass from Hogan fired at Hinchliffe and he's played it off the ground too and on a pitch cant trust its ridiculous playing that between the sticks, Hinchliffe has to do better though he's trying to control and open his foot/body up at same time when just needs to firstly block the ball with his foot then assess his options
We kept firing balls back to Hinchliffe after that too and he visibly lost all trust in the pitch and miskicked countless times
MSH was just about our brightest spark again and looks like may lose Kitching for some time which is a huge blow.
Williams was absolutely minging again when he came on lad cant even kick the ball off the ground it seems, shadow of player thought we were getting who was Fylde's standout player last year. Jennings was poor too after a more positive outing saturday
Disappointed with changes or lack of really, Reid was getting no change all game and either needed help or Bennett up there to give us an outlet, Minihan left back seemed avoidable with Stott or even Williams to play there.
Cant blame the pitch really as we will have to get used to it, but its not ideal for this playing out from the back as there is no run or roll in it to move the ball quickly enough to stretch teams was all too easy for Sutton to shift across in their shape, if we want to play from the back Palmer isnt that natural ball playing defender to replace Hogan either.
We need to find a way to be more effective with pitch as it is whether thats getting more presence upfront or more pace in the side to play balls into areas with a higher press as currently teams can wait for the inevitable mistake with high risk strategy on a cabbage patch.
We havent looked like a team that will go on any meaningful run of wins all season weve largely failed to back positive results up often enough to make any inroads on Torquay.
Sutton were well drilled but we made it easy for them by givingh them something to hold onto, our record against top teams in division is massive cause for concern and discipline again let us down tonight which will give some people the ammunition they need to bring that angle out.
Hopefully Alty can continue to do us a favour tonight and we can put tonight to bed with a positive showing on the TV saturday but that was poor tonight we didnt show any resilience to react to the poor goal conceded, we just crumbled after that tbh.
