Seen on YouTube this morning as a comment on the SW interview: The NEW (Post Simon Rusk FAILED Experiment) Brief for a manager of Stockport County is as follows... Desirable Qualities required.... Experience, 100 games plus (See Jim Gannon) Level of Success in those 100 plus games (See Jim Gannon) A Title (See Jim Gannon) Or Promotion (See Jim Gannon) Serial Play Off wins (See Jim Gannon) Serial Overachievement Vs Budget (See Jim Gannon). Need we go on Simong!!! Seriously... What is the effing point of you!!! Mr Stott, please stop wasting your time and Money on this man. He's nought but a chancer. Courtesy of Andy McDade Am I going to get shouted at for saying a serial playoff winner probably needs to have more than one under their belt as a player or manager? Every other tick box is fair. I'd argue that Stockport County as a whole are serial playoff losers.

No, because you are right - and proportionate in your response. Might not have been the case for a couple of others on here!

Yeah, serial play off winner is nonsense. He only took part in two anyway, even if he'd won both would that be a serial play off winner?
I think it's fair to say he's got a decent record of promotion though.

Can you clarify what you mean by Simong please? If it's using the word mong to have a pop, consider yourself warned.

Then say "no thanks this isn't about me" You never see a director of football being interviewed when a club appoints a new manager. Spurs didn't interview there's today, strange that it's only us that do it. I don't think saying "Spurs didn't do it, therefore it's only us that do it" is going to be factually correct. More than two clubs in the country with a Director of Football. I am no fan of SW and think his time is limited. He will have less space with DCh in the manager’s chair. This then starts to make him look expensive for what he is bringing to the table. I suspect if there is any arm wrestling between DCh and SW, Dave has the upper hand. however, I think it is right that he gives an interview. If he didn’t, peeps would be saying he was hiding away. Having said that, he didn’t do himself any favours did he?

So there we have it…to paraphrase, ‘I am responsible for the style of play’ To be fair to him on that point, he did say that he wants that to be us playing attacking entertaining football. Which we haven't. If that is the extent of his remit when it comes to 'style' I've no qualms with it. He says good things. He says things I don't necessarily believe. He brings up pre-Rusk whilst at the same time taking about sackings being a case of 'closing the door' on the preceding period. That last bit I'm not keen on. Reflection on past errors is a major part of learning. You shouldn't just put your mistakes in a box and file them away. Appointing Challinor based on a set of criteria which make sense (perhaps Elstone's input?) is a positive step in the right direction, and I get the impression he's not one for being treated like a puppet. But there's still lessons to be learned - and I expect he'll need to learn them quickly. I would say the playing philosophy comment is as big an about turn as the one he made after praising JG to high heaven two weeks before he sacked him.

Start of a goodbye for this fella. Or a watered down role.
Wilson's picked Rusk. Stott's picked Challinor. It's obvious.
If Challinor does well, MS will be wondering what he actually needs Wilson for. As long as Stott has got people running the club day in day out and a good strong manager. He'll realise we don't really need Wilson. Maybe a head of recrutiment type of figure for signings (whcih Wilson may be good enough for- he's got some good deals over the line tbh) but not and out and out DOF.

He certainly wasn’t the only one, and Stott gets off far too lightly for the Gannon disaster IMO. But Wilson was the face of it. Perhaps he’s unfairly maligned, but he appeared to set himself up as the new kid on the block who was the progressive, while Jim was the dinosaur. It sets people against you: I owe Simon Wilson absolutely nothing, but I owe Gannon an entire lifetime of memories. I think that’s what he’s going to struggle to recover from in the court of public opinion. That said, let’s see how things go with Challinor. It’s no secret many of us want to see the back of Wilson, but it’s not in our gift. If Challinor finds a way to work with him, then to borrow a Ruskism, it is what it is. Wilson may have been the face of it, but by all accounts Stott was the brains. Very interesting if true. Wilson has taken the majority of the flack for the decision no doubt about it. I have mentioned in the past that I thought Stott got off extremely lightly. He’ll always have the final say in those decisions. Sounds like that might be an understatement. I’ll never properly be able to forgive that decision but I can put it behind me,, for my own sanity. Happy we now have a proper manager in place and feeling confident about what we’re going to achieve over the next few years, I couldn’t say that 2 weeks ago.

Having said that, he didn’t do himself any favours did he? Honestly, I'm ambivalent towards him. I don't put him in the same box as McKnight because they simply have a similar role at our club, personally, because I think he'll actually do some good / has done some good at the club unlike that idiot. Let's be clear though. He'll be on last chance saloon now with Elstone in at the club. I hope he pulls it out the bag as well because it's in all our interests that he does.

I am now seriously fed up with the Wilson out comments
The same points are being made with monotonous regularity and are repetitive and boring
Scenarios to criticise Wilson are being invented based on supposition and extrapolation of potentially unrelated facts that are twisted to criticise him with no evidence
Rusk has gone and been replaced and mistake effectively acknowledged
This constant Wilson criticism is bordering on bullying
A new era is beginning and we need to draw a line under the last 10 months
We should now give Wilson a chance and judge from this point onwards. If not we end up in a cess pool of vicious comments that becomes embarrassing and reduces the quality of this board
