Now we’ve got the tie in with Heineken, I wonder if we’ll be seeing Beavertown at the ground? Always enjoyed their beers, obviously Heineken getting a stake in them makes you wonder if they’ll mess about with the beers and ruin it all but seems to have remained consistent. It’s hardly local produce but a step up on the grim piss that’s been served up for years. It’s already happened. Drank a can of Gamma Ray in the summer and it was almost unrecognisable to the original, although my changing tastes may well have had something to do with that

Thirst Class should be another brewery that County talk to, local beer, get it on the pumps instead of the usual crap. Still absolutely no idea why our clubs / most others haven't gone down this route. Salford are tied in with Seven Brothers, Huddersfield with Magic Rock, FC United have a good selection if you've ever "visited" their home end during a County game. Been saying for years, let's get involved. Much more likely to have people come along early and spend their money rather than making the choice between Robbies Gold and Strongbow Dark Fruits! Yep, been saying for years if we could get a decent pint and get a pie from Ate Days a Week I'd be in the ground for 2pm every week spending money, even at the inflated prices you'd expect in a ground. As it is, I almost pride myself on not having spent a penny in the ground for well over a decade now. I wonder if there are any plans to one day deliver some kind of fanzone/ supporters club where we can enjoy local food and drink if it can’t be delivered in the ground.

I've not had any for ages tbh. I think they weakened the Bloody 'Ell a few years back but think was pre-Heineken. I'm sure I read somewhere when Heineken came in that they wanted Neck Oil in every pub in the country or something similar. Which is great, Neck Oil is a lovely drop. But only as long as the quality doesn't suffer. There's no point selling it in every pub in the country if it just becomes a Carling alternative. I'd rather travel to a decent pub that has good Neck Oil than go to a shit one that has bad Neck Oil.

I'd rather travel to a decent pub that has good Neck Oil than go to a shit one that has bad Neck Oil. It’s the macro way. Independent produced good quality beer and it’s growth was identified as a threat my the multinationals. They tried starting their own craft brands but it that didn’t work. So they started buying up we’ll known and liked breweries to do what their own “craft” brands were meant to do. Produce modern beer styles at a price point that independent brewers can’t compete with. Most drinkers are gonna pick ipa at 4 cans for £6 rather than £5 a can. With this and lobbying to remove small brewers duty relief, run the small guys out of town

Not an attempt to criticise/mock the new ownership. Just a caustic comment from me on 'progress'. But if you're remotely expectant that we're going to become a fluffy, friendly, club that thinks outside the box in terms of ways in which to satisfy it's fan base, then I do think in the future you're going to end up sorely disappointed. Let them prove me wrong...

I've just seen an advert for a Goose Island x Cadburys Creme Egg collaboration, 4.5% Creme Stout
Not sure what to make of that?

They deliver to south Manchester/Stockport once a week and it's cheaper than buying direct from the brewery. I got some cases of Juice in the summer for £38, 24 cans. It was nearly £60 direct from ABC. The stock is a bit patchy but well worth keeping an eye on.

I don't want to bang on too much about my local side but this is exactly the sort of thing they have done over the years, and the place is rammed before kick-off, even with the amount of pre-game drinking and eating that goes on outside the ground in the carpark tail-gates. The club gets in local food trucks (serving from pre-game to post-match) and beer trucks serving local brews, as well as local talent performing on the concourse. They host things like occasional craft beer or food tasting sessions for 2-3 hours before kick off and there are collaborations and partnerships with local breweries. It's great for the fans, the partners & vendors and for the club itself. I don't see a downside and I also find it hard to fathom why more clubs don't explore the possibilities.

This thread is making me sad. I'm currently off the booze so I make sure I fit in my wedding suit for my wedding in April.
After that I'm going to drink all of the beers. I'll probably start with some Blackjack, very much enjoyable, and cask. And some Runaway - the wegbier they brought out over the summer is a lovely German style lager in a 330ml can that you can happily imbibe whilst out on a stroll... in true German style.
