FIFA99 put me off Fatboy Slim for life. FIFA 2000 had a scratch and sniff game disc that smelt of turf. I remember that.

FIFA 2000 had a scratch and sniff game disc that smelt of turf. Wikipedia says it was Ackchyually FIFA 2001 Edit: and I, too, didn't know about this until now. Baffles me why they didn't keep on doing it because it's really cool Oh yeah, you're right!

FIFA99 put me off Fatboy Slim for life. I'm sure it was 99 when the ex threw my PlayStation out of the window at me (with Fifa disc) It luckily proved quite resilient. Speaking of resilient games console my Super Nintendo survived a house fire. The PSX and GameCube which were both further from the seat of the fire both melted. The SNES still works, albeit you sometimes have to give it a couple of attempts to read the cartridges.

Who would be up for a Yellowboard league/tournament?! I’m absolutely awful! A typical 48 year old on a computer! In that case, I'm in.

Hardcore 😁 probably already done this but contact cleaner in the cartridge slot and also the cartridges contact's can help too, rescued a good few sold as faulty on Fleabay this way.

While it’s still working I’m reluctant to do anything more than a dust. Knowing my luck I’d bollocks it up.

PC can only cross-play with current gen and sadly I'm a particularly poor/backward console peasant in that I have a PS4..

Well the 14 year old has the posh tech in our house, he has the PS5, his battered PS4 sits abandoned in the upstairs cupboard, maybe I could rescue it 🤔 already done this with the PS3 which the Mrs and I have been using for KLAX and a few other oldies.

I’d have to get another copy of the game but I’m sure I could get it cheaply.

So, had a few weeks of playing EAFC24 and I've finally reached the 'throw the controller at a wall' stage after getting humped by Salford (I'm almost certain the ref was biased). Playing on professional difficulty, I either win or lose league matches by 4-8 goals, it's ridiculous. And watching my defenders track back as the opposition bring the ball forwards is painful. They make the stupidest decisions that suddenly open up a massive hole for the oncoming attackers to just walk through and score without any challenges. Croasdale just stands there or strolls back behind the ball rather than doing the job of a defensive midfielder. And how the game decides which of your players you're passing to defeats me.
And I wish to god I could switch off the cringeworthy goal celebrations and player reactions. I'm supposed to be playing a game of football, not watching one on TV!

Rather than flick between difficulties, maybe have a look at the sliders in the gameplay options. You can alter specific things like shot accuracy, GK ability, pass error etc of both you and the computer. There's a good thread here that might help you with some suggestions; they're renowned as the best around for slider settings: forums.operationsports.com/forums/ea-sports-fifa-sliders/1014656-ea-sports-fc-24-os-community-sliders.html
