I visited the new interchange and Viaduct Park earlier today. Impressive. It was part funded by the big apartment block alongside it. But then they added another one stuck right on the Viaduct which is the first time something has obstructed the viaduct view from the A6 side since it was built. This shit one. Other than that it looks really impressive. But then you still have this shit to contend with… Do you find those apartments shit because they block the view of a small section of the viaduct? Or some other reason? I would argue that Beckwith and Regent house blocked the view of the viaduct from the A6 first.

Been down today and the park and bus station are excellent, also some nice activities as part of the Town of Culture weekend meaning the town centre was quite busy.

Progress and development is good for the town, but the development next to the Viaduct is wrong on every level. Why did it have to be so high and so close to the Viaduct? The Viaduct is a famous landmark, but it looks to an old fogey like me, there's been a concerted effort to block it from view from the A6 side of town.

The Magnet was in there a few weeks ago in an article about being a British hidden gem. It's been absolutely rammed ever since. Normally in there weekly, and struggle to get a seat at the moment. Full of little hipsters. And a fair few divvy FC United fans. They run a bus to their games and even have a flag with the viaduct spelling FCUM with a magnet on it. Shame as the beer is really good in there.

Shame they’ve built that extra block of flats right on the viaduct though.

Brinny has a really good leisure centre. Floodlit 3G and great indoor sports facility. Offy is crying out for similar. Offy/Heaviley are one of the most densely populated bits of the town. Sad there isn’t such a. Facility and the old Goyt Bank/Offy HS site os ideal for it, but is getting salami sliced.
On a brighter note, the new bus station is fantastic and the Grand Central redevelopment has worked well. Work will start soon on the final office block. When the rest of the development west of the town centre is completed it will see a whole new neighbourhood slap bang in the middle of town.
Underbank developments continue too as does work on sprucing up Merseyway precinct. Am loving the artwork that is popping up.
Stockport definitely on the up.

I've always said the success of the team and the town go hand in hand, Stockport people used to be a bit sniffy about their own town and disassociated themselves with it, now we have 9000 people claiming to be County fans and trendies saying they prefer going out in Stockport to Manchester and long may it continue.

I've always thought that Mark stott has had something to do with the development of the town. Him and Wilson have spoken about the town and they know how many people live here and what growth can happen. I think they used the Portsmouth population as a guideline. We have nearly double the population and are a town and club on the up. Stott is into development and I'm sure he's been part of the development in someway. it's just not been made public even if it's just financing something or ideas.

A successful team is definitely good for the town & it'll be even better as we rise & with the proposed stadium expansion. Having potentially 2K+ away fans spending in the pubs & eateries of Stockport is far more beneficial to the town's coffers than when we were in the NLN with sub 3K gates & 20 away fans.

Its just a pity that all this had happened to us pre Sky TV and the premier league hype where there were zero armchair fans around and people thinking football does not exist below it.

Are they still a thing? Of course. How could non-league football still exist without them, what with them having invented it and everything? I seem to recall that viaduct flag having a rough time of it on one of our visits there...

Walked through Underbank yesterday and wondered how long that had been there. Looks great.
