I’m hoping to move to Edgeley in a few years as properties in the area tend to tick the boxes I have. I’d love a regenerated Castle Street even for non County days. Just need those house prices to hold off from skyrocketing a little longer! Buy now, gentrify later? 😉 If Stranded moves in consider it gentrified.

Lowering the tone more like!🤣🍻⚽️😱💥 I'm trying to think what could lower the tone of Castle Street, it'd take some effort but I still love it.

Would castle street be better if it was one way? Strict no double parking so you can't park on the road while you run into a levy bakery (seems to be the most popular place) It's strictly no double parking now. It's not allowed. But the layout of the road allows it. So only way to stop it is to shape the place so cars can't physically stop in the road. I'm not sure one way really solves anything, much better to make it pedestrian friendly and a lot less accessible for cars. "What do you think about the pedestrianisation of Castle Street?"

Talking to a mate last night & he mentioned being in Stockport a few years back & having memories of a bridge across the motorway that led to a spearmint rhino type place.
Was he telling me porkys?

Sounds like maybe the footbridge leading to Heaton Norris? It comes out onto a sort of leisure/entertainment zone of the family-friendly variety now, but I wouldn’t be surprised if there was something more “adult” there before it was redeveloped? Depending where you were coming from, you’d have to cross the river to reach the late lamented Rifle Volunteer. But that was a whole different kind of adult entertainment! It’s flats now, but with a definite “if these walls could talk” factor!

Not that close to the footbridge, though - unless a particular vindictive cabbie saw you coming!
