To be fair to Rochdale they have had a much better first season in the NL than most ex league clubs do, including ourselves

I am very much in favour of 3 up and down has Stranded said. Closed shop was wrong. Allowed clubs to be crap endlessly. It was mainly clubs that were difficult to get to that were voted out and Alty deserved to be in. After some thought, along with the pressure of the log jam in the NL being relieved with County, Grimsby, Wrexham, Notts and now Chesterfield getting back to theEFL, I've changed my mind. The average attendances of the nine London borough/fringe teams are shockingly poor; they are unsustainable at a competitive level beyond ‘non-League’. Bromley and Barnet if promoted would be two of the worst supported teams in League 2 (22nd and 24th this season on the numbers separated only by FGR who are equally unsustainable) just like Sutton, Dagenham, and Barnet previously, and the like. Additionally, unlike most of the traditional Cheshire/Lancashire/Manchester fringe teams, they have only tiny numbers of first allegiance supporters, this is true even of clubs further afield like Stevenage (Hertfordshire) who have to share their support with Spurs and Arsenal in a way County do not with our northern neighbours. Got to say I think the same is true of teams like Salford, Alty, and Macc in relation to our area; the most they can expect is a short-term vacation to the EFL. Two-up, two-down is ok; Chesterfield coming up is fine, but what do Bromley and Barnet being promoted add to the experience other than making up numbers and adding two more very poorly supported non-League London borough clubs to the EFL ? The Oldham’s and Southend’s need to earn their promotion on merit like County did - ie top + win the play-offs, others like Rochdale (like Halifax, Aldershot, and others) I think are gone for good, something actually that should have happened half a century ago. There is a place for new fresh faces, but there are not many of those evident in the current NL, and any increase in promotion places might not be worth losing Colchester and Grimsby for some London borough team that most people couldn’t identify on a map, with a couple of thousand supporters, many of whose first loyalty lies elsewhere. I enjoyed going to Bromley away, the ground's a great blend of the traditional and modern, with a good atmosphere, especially from the fans on the terrace behind the goal. Not been to the new Chesterfld stadium but I find that type of ground dull, their supporters insufferable and paranoid, and the club too much of a basket case to deserve a league team. Bromley would add more to the Football League than they will. But I think this is really the wrong approach to the question, we shouldn't decide for or against by considering who the short term beneficiaries might be. All divisions have teams promoted to it that are poorly supported for the level. All divisions contain teams that don't sustain themselves long-term there. Usually two of the new teams to the Prem go back down. Rotherham keep going up but can't sustain it. Carlisle this season. The National League always gets its one season wonders like Chorley and so on all the way down the pyramid. In fact League Two is the division where no new team has ever gone straight back down.

Think its a subject that you,ll never convince me or i you about. Actually i preferred the closed shop because we benefitted out of it. Most clubs who fell by the wayside then were real basket cases and not ones who were relegated just for having a single bad season. Only barrow ever came back and that took em around 50 years to do it. Not sure if even JG would have got us back if we were on pre Mark Stott finances either. Be careful what we wish for and sod the other 91 clubs plus the non leaguers as its all about us for me. And County. Failed re-election in 1903/04, returned in 05/06. Similar happened to Stoke as well.
I,m on about the post WW2 era and not the one where we had only 2 divisions. From New Brighton onwards none of the teams apart from Barrow deserved to keep their league status and you could add us, halifax, rochdale and pools to that list. Now you can have one bad season caused by unlucky recruitment, injury crisis or a points deduction to see yourself replaced by a traditional non league SE club who had a good season but much poorer crowds than the relegated club has ever got. They might not be as lucky as we were in keeping a good percentage of our fans and gaining promotions just at the right time. Think another season or two in the NLN and we would not be where we are now. Those who were voted in to replace the ones that went did a far better job than the departed ones but now many are bankrolled well above the fan interest and will eventually end up back where they belong once the money men depart.

Big departure for Borehamwood but not a big surprise Its obviously a meaningful statement and refreshing to see respect shown by a chairman/club but I've always found him a bit odd that owner.

Big departure for Borehamwood but not a big surprise He's not gone yet. Bit strange to me. Either sack him now and gamble on the new manager boost or back him and if he turns it around, will you find better for next season? It is with deep regret, and huge sadness, that Boreham Wood Football Club can announce we will part company with our long-serving Manager Luke Garrard after our last game of this season against Ebbsfleet United on Saturday, April 20th.

Another decent manager who has just stayed too long at a club. Agree with what jackie charlton said years ago, 5 years is the maximum you should stay in one job.

The milkies could get to Wembley in the FA Trophy with a win today, although winning at Gateshead is a tough one.

Hopefully we see him breaking into the first team next year once he’s back from the loan.

Good. I have nothing against them usually but while Savage is there it's hard to wish them well. I'm the other way. I do have something against them yet not arsed about Savage. Radcliffe all but secured the NPL championship (and the one automatic spot) yesterday. Macc who have the biggest budget in that league by a mile probably thought they'd walk it but will be in the Play Offs (well done to Radcliffe). Macc will be red hot favourites in the play offs to go up to the NLN. But you never know in Play off football. I hope they stutter up in the NLN if they do go up

That's exactly what they are a good 5th level side and Alty's rivals.
