I'm the other way. I do have something against them yet not arsed about Savage. Radcliffe all but secured the NPL championship (and the one automatic spot) yesterday. Macc who have the biggest budget in that league by a mile probably thought they'd walk it but will be in the Play Offs (well done to Radcliffe). Macc will be red hot favourites in the play offs to go up to the NLN. But you never know in Play off football. I hope they stutter up in the NLN if they do go up Actually i,ll be glad when macc get back to the level they should be playing at the NL to become a northern version of somebody like woking. They always seem to spawn their way up to the FL though unlike an Alty or a Woking etc. Look how close they were to big a Wembley day out yesterday in the FA Trophy which Non league teams wait decades for.

They have done it at least twice before going to wembley an so have gateshead. I certainly would not be in a hurry to see em back into the league though as they are just alty playing in blue shirts for me.

I've always liked Alty and the Alty fans I know I've always found great lads football wise. Macclesfield the opposite. Maybe history played a part with Macc getting a few over us down the years.

Say what you like about savage he put a dying club really back on the map.

Years ago when they played each other it was a real hard no quarter given game and must have been the most fierce encounter in non league football. Just two sides of the same coin for me with even their respective grounds having a similar name. Nothing to really choose between em both on the pitch or fans for me at the time. Think now though its typical long term alty fans v new age macc ones that are making the difference.

I used to work with a few Macc fans. Some of them diehards who'd followed them for years & some of them fans of City or United who live in Macc but started going when they reformed lower down the pyramid. I'm happy for the diehards that they've got their club back after being run for years by a complete shyster before the current owners resurrected them. The newer fans are enjoying being able to go to a game with their families & watch live football at a reasonable price after being priced out of the bigger clubs they used to follow. Macc are getting better gates now than when they were in the league & have done a good job in rebuilding the club & offering amenities for use to the community, the all weather pitch, club gym & club bar are well used by all accounts.
I'm not on the 'let's hate Robbie Savage' bandwagon neither. Clearly has a passion for football at all levels, doesn't take himself too seriously & I've heard him speak highly of us on more than one occasion.
I'm glad that natural order has been restored & we've reasserted ourselves as Cheshire's No.1 club but I'd be happy to see the milkies rise again. Our likely trajectory will probably mean it will be a very long time (if ever) before we meet again on a league footing but I'd still like to give them a trouncing in the F.A. cup or the league cup at some point if they ever make it back to the FL.

Their all weather use of their plastic pitch is a big part of their funding which of course would have to be ripped up in the FL. You do wonder if they have that much vision to be back in the FL. Crowds are good but they're near the top of all their leagues, be interesting to see how many fancied it if they were hovering mid table NLN or even NL (same for all clubs tbf). To me Macclesfield Town FC seemed to just die and then Macclesfield FC got formed and they've enjoyed promotion battles seasons after season. I know the original club dying is a punishment but just never felt they've suffered the abject hopelessness others have felt and think it may be more likely to come when they hit the National League. I don't actually dislike Savage and I agree he and his business partner Smethurst have actually done a good job.

Good. I have nothing against them usually but while Savage is there it's hard to wish them well. I'm the other way. I do have something against them yet not arsed about Savage. Glad that Nathan Pye will get his chance to go to Wembley with them after all. Hopefully we see him breaking into the first team next year once he’s back from the loan. I just wish he’d focus on his football rather than those stupid alien web comics

Halifax Town are having to play their next two home games at accrington due to the condition of their pitch. Reminds me of having to play gateshead at hartlepool back in our dark days.

Halifax Town are having to play their next two home games at accrington due to the condition of their pitch. Reminds me of having to play gateshead at hartlepool back in our dark days. And Torquay at Macc... Speaking of Torquay, this from their Facebook page: 🟡 Club Update | Preferred Bidder Selected Torquay United AFC is pleased to advise its supporters that a preferred bidder to take over the Club has now been identified. Following on from the announcement last Friday that Scott Kippax, Neil Vinnicombe and Simon Haskew of Begbies Traynor have been appointed as joint administrators of the Club, extensive work and discussions have been taking place behind the scenes over the past few days. Out of the firm bids received by TUFC, one party has now been identified as the preferred bidder. Although the preferred bidder will remain confidential at this stage, this news is the latest, and perhaps most significant yet, towards securing the Club’s long-term future. We will continue to provide supporters with further updates as and when possible, however in the meantime, we would like to place on record our thanks to all bidding parties, the Club’s staff, National League, Sport England, Lloyds Bank, Club’s creditors and most of all our beloved supporters for their hard work, assistance, generosity and patience during the past two months. #tufc
