Aye he’s quite clearly an extra defensive body with us only having 4 fit and that’s counting Mingi who’s played 52 minutes in pre season.

Going to compliment the Denton signing so well.

Anyone know if he's any good? Little worried by the lack of DC comment. Good to have an extra body in and some promising signs but is this more of Cotterill/Pond signing for depth than anyone we should be too excited by? We still need a first choice RB/RWB. DC might be a bit busy today. Just a thought...

Another signing that doesn’t require registration as only recently became 21. Good luck to the lad and hope he does well, Hughes will look after him.

Not the most pressing concern in the squad, was highly rated at one point but seems to have stagnated

It's all about bodies and young loans are the the only way. Wilson has built a fantastic squad, the injuries aren't his fault. He said himself he wanted the squad to be done after Barry and I completely agree. It was complete and has a range of qualities. But the injuries have put a spanner in the works and it's all about bringing in bodies.
Without being harsh on this lad, it's clear we don't think he's a transformative player in any role.
Hopefully he can add to us well.

Agree with that to a large extent but it was also said that we'd react to the injuries and the door was always open for the right signing. For me, a quality RB/RWB should have always been on the cards. Add that I don't think we can have any complaints if it's no more or stopgap players. We're a little light in a few places but still have at least one decent option for each and players returning in the next month or two. (The issue was last season that it was a revolving door and 1 in, 1 out.)

(The issue was last season that it was a revolving door and 1 in, 1 out.) we should never have been going into this season with knoyle and msh as our only two rb/rwb as we knew msh was out for a while and very likely will be out again at some point and why i wasnt really fond of giving him an extension (just help him through rehab and recovery)

The squad is excellent.
If some other teams in this league had 10 injuries they'd completely f*cked.

We weren’t. We were going in with Knoyle, MSH & Fevrier. We made it very clear when we signed Fevrier that we wanted to play him higher. Fevrier also can’t in a back four. Yeah. DC's comments below. I'm sure we factored him in a back-up in emergencies (like tomorrow) or an in-game option when we are chasing a goal but he clearly wasn't / isn't the first choice RB/RWB. I won't be surprised to see him a back-up second striker. “He already has the pace, power and dribbling ability to cause real problems; it’s our job to refine that and get him into areas on the pitch where he can hurt defenders and add the one thing missing from his game which is numbers around goals and goal involvements, something that we had success with last season with Louie on the left hand side.
“Jayden has the ability to play anywhere across the front line but spent most of last season in a wing back role which, although he does it very well, probably prevented the amount of goal scoring moments he had. Jayden is hugely motivated to improve and is very analytical about his game, which we all feel are the characteristics that can absolutely thrive in our environment."

Also correct. We had plenty of cover. It’s just all injured

Plus Connolly as pointed out above.

True. Him and Mingi as back-ups with Knoyle first choice and hoping MSH would be back soonish to challenge probably works if that was our thinking. But all indications have been that we'll play a back 3 and DC loves pace in his wingbacks. At wingback it's probably only MSH (who we knew was injured), Fevrier (who we'd rather play higher) or Knoyle (arguably more of a RB and now longterm injured). It's very similar to the Rydel (longterm injured), Touray (more LB but works) and Fevrier (rather play higher) situation at LWB. There we planned to bring in Adaramola, before he then got injured! I'm surprised the same isn't planned for the right. It's a potential long term move too with both Knoyle and MSH out of contract at the end of the season and with work to do to show they can stay fit and are L1 standard.
