Did not expect that! For me it was Horsfall or Ben as a toss up. Shows you what an impression he's made. Big call as a new signing and 21. A surprise but probably first name on the teamsheet. Ben and Fraser have got battles on to keep their place in the team from Addai and Hughes.

Not a fan of the new signing as captain thing. I’ll trust DC on this one. If it makes sure we get 100% out of him every game in an influential part of the pitch, it could prove to be a master stroke. Bate says the role is "a huge honour" and that he will "wear the armband with real pride on the fans' behalf."

Didn't expect this at all, but makes me even more excited about him as a prospect. I suspect DCh believes that he will drive the team on in the way that Paddy did. A big call, but I'm excited to see how it plays out.

Did think part of the motivation was to avoid having to pick captains for games and the subtext that comes with. To me, Horsfall is one if the first names on the teamsheet to. Ben as well but I can see that being different for DC.

Challinor mentions that he will be in the middle of the pitch and that we have a group of leaders instead of the captain being THE leader

Add a RB and maybe a physical no.8 and we could mean some real business if we can keep others fit. RB a must.

There’s no point in getting worked up about whether we’re playing a 3/4/5. Regardless of how we line up at kick off we’ll switch between the 3 throughout the game. Quite a few managers commented last season on how difficult we were to play against, because we were constantly changing formation during the game

No point in picking a keeper as your captain, because it really needs someone who can communicate all over the pitch. I'd have thought Camps may have got the gig.

Yeah there was talk of a club captain and "on-field" captain which I guessed would be Ben and Horsfall. Now sounds like more Bate for on the pitch and a leadership group for off the pitch.
