Are you right about Powell? He made a decent impact in the second half of last season and still has 2 seasons to prove you wrong. Agreed but he played 20 games. He's made of glass 32 league games (joint 9th, same as Wootton and 1 fewer than Sarcevic). 21 starts. 14th in the squad on minutes. Didn't have a great season with injuries or lasting 90 minutes (an issue for me) but very few did last season!

This seems like a winning signing. On the pitch, he can boss the pitch, and experience that Paddy provided in years past. A cool head, mentor on and off the pitch. After he is up to speed, do you start him and try to get a lead and sub him out later in the match, or do you bring him on with some of the speedsters off the bench in the second half to distribute to players flying down the pitch? First world problems, nice to have

He's made of glass Midfielder League appearances in order last season. Odin bailey 38 Ryan Croasdale 36 Antoni sarcevic 33 Nick powell 32 Callum camps 29 Will collar 20 For someone thats made of glass he's very average in terms of games played In the last year powells earnt 8k (rumoured) a week so hes cost £416k Fiorini cost £301k according to fotmobs transfer centre There's been pile on powell because he cost so much and injury prone but nothing on fiorini (this isnt a pile on, on either player so please dont take it as that) but weve spent alot of money on fiorini who's not proven. His last good season was 3 or years ago (2021/2022) so thats not proven/form thats 1 good season a few years ago but no negativity about him (please dont use the "hes not played for us yet" or "hes young" Maybe ive made a point, maybe i haven't but cant we just enjoy OUR players

Only missed 3 of the final 30 games of the season too; after he got over the poor start with injuries, he was almost always available to play.

Norwood is a sensational signing
Brilliant work by everyone involved ⚽️💙
Exactly what this young squad needs
Him and Bate with any number of the talented No.10’s we have can win this League

I agree he did OK but I imagine bailey or lemonheigh evans did more for a lot less. Powell looks like a footballer he glides across the pitch but he doesn't fit our press system he's a luxury player. He's one who hasn't worked if we're honest with ourselves.

A brilliant signing! RWB on loan and possibly another striker if the injured are not returning soon and we already have an outstanding squad of talented footballers, which is bound to get better, if not next week but in January and next summer. What an exciting journey we are on and doesn’t our future look bright!!

If the messiah couldn’t afford him then he wouldn’t have signed. You can’t pass up this chance to sign a player of this quality, as someone said earlier, Bate and all our midfielders will benefit massively having him along side them. If he was still a Sheffield United player we’d be talking millions to take him of their hands. 33 or not.
Hope Powell can get fit and get his confidence back as the midfield we have is potentially something really special.
Not been this excited about a season since September of last season 😂😂

Because the aim is to start running the club more sustainably. But that's easier at Championship level than L1, providing we don't get drawn into the silly spending there. Maybe Wilson, Stott and DC think this is the sort of signing to supercharge the 7 year plan. Then I suspect the Powell signing was the same logic. The Championship is the least sustainable division in the country.

First world problems, nice to have Once he's match sharp, I think he'll rightly expect to start. Up to him to prove that though. DC said he's being doing tactical stuff with us for 3 weeks as part of training so I wouldn't be too surprised if he started tomorrow.

The Championship is the least sustainable division in the country. Yep but the revenue streams are higher and we're a more attractive prospect if he wanted to bring another investor, or we could simply ride our luck with relegation. No way we can compete with the level of spending at the top/mid end currently.

You only ever come on to have a pop though. Never anything positive and, as has been pointed out to you more than once, Powell played 30 games for us last season and performed well in the main after a slow start - which happens for many players at all levels. Yep, Powell’s full time boo boy. Even managed to squeeze him into his negative post about our new signing some how. Sorry our opinions differ . Sometimes you have to accept people have different ones to yours. I don't think giving a 33 year old a 3 year contract is the correct one . I guess we will know for sure in 2027. As for Powell I think he has been a massive disappointment personally and if you think he played 30 full games you are very much mistaken . He's spent more time out injured than playing . He came with a footballing reputation and also for a reputation for being out injured. He's certainly proved the second point . And he wont play 30 games this season either

As above, he played in 32 of our 46 league games. Joint 9th in the squad. 3 fewer than Pye for example. His minutes are down in 14th though as 11 sub apps in there and when started I'm not sure if he ever lasted a full 90.
